Five hundred and twenty-one panoramic radiographs were reviewed to record the ossification pattern of the stylohyoid complex. Four hundred and sixty-two (88.7%) showed some degree of ossification. There was considerable variation in pattern, but the impression was one of an increase from childhood to adulthood with a slight male preponderance.
