The essay highlights the less explored aspects of U.S.-Cuban relations that usually focus on Miami and Havana including the economic ties (remittances and retailing) and selected lives of Cuban Americans in Hialeah, whose lives, exile experience, and work show the key role of this cultural and economic ethnic enclave.
