ResumoThe news that Ana Brnabić became the first Serbian gay female prime minister in 2017 triggered various questions concerning Serbia"s attitude towards LGBT population in Western media.Serbia is seen as a patriarchal country and it is noted that many attempts to organize a Pride Parade without violent demonstrations have been in vain, i.e. 2010 Pride Parade ended in violence with 150 injured people. The aim of this paper is to examine whether the election of Ana Brnabic for the first gay PM in the region has led to a better positioning of Serbia in the global world and whether this appointment improved the image of Serbia in the Western media. For the purpose of this analysis American and British press (the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Guardian, and the Independent) as well as Serbian leading pro-government and anti-government newspapers (Blic, Vreme, Informer and Danas) have been used as a reference point.
