Background The awareness of the formal structure of language has been widely studied in the literature but less in a bilingualism context. Even less with second‐language learners ( SLL ) who are acquiring their second language ( L 2) and are not considered as bilinguals. Aims This study aimed at providing an investigation of young SLL 's skills in phonological, morphological and syntactic awareness. Samples Ninety‐five French first graders participated in our study. Children were divided into two groups: ...

This article presents a new isolated topology of dc–dc converter based on piezoelectric resonators. Contrary to most existing topologies, the proposed one uses the natural isolation of piezoelectric resonators to isolate the converter's output from the input and vice-versa. Considering the resonators' constraints, our study focuses on the most efficient isolated conversion cycle with zero-voltage switching (ZVS) operations. The case studied is a highly efficient step-down isolated dc–dc converter ...

The 500-kilovolt accelerator described is of the Cockcroft–Walton type and is operated at a frequency of 32 kc. It is pressurized for compactness. The circuit comprises 24 stages and is terminated by an inductive load which increases the output voltage by a factor of 1.5. The rectifier filaments are heated by utilizing the current flowing through the stray capacitances of the rectifiers. The circuit calculations are given and the design is described briefly.

Background It is unclear whether HIV infection affects the long-term prognosis after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The objective of the current study was to compare rates of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events after a first ACS between people living with HIV (PLHIV) and HIV-uninfected (HIV-) patients, and to identify determinants of cardiovascular prognosis. Methods and Results Consecutive PLHIV and matched HIV- patients with a first episode of ACS were enrolled in 23 coronary intensive ...
