Knowing mechanical properties of rocks incorporated with ultrasonic waves velocities investigations provide a secure basis for mine modelling. Uniaxial compressive strength, dynamic elastic modulus and ultrasonic waves velocities are just some of the rock properties that indicate on presence of discontinuities, stratification and fissures of rocks. Determining the relationship of these rock properties testing the rock samples that are corresponding to different rock types extracted from different ...

The purpose of this study is to compare cases with type 2 diabetes and their controls for the frequency of stressful life events and social support before the occurrence of the disease. The study of cases and their controls was undertaken in Belgrade. A case group comprised 179 subjects in whom type 2 diabetes was for the first time diagnosed in the 'Savski Venac' Medical Center during the period 2005-2007 year. The diagnosis was made by a specialist of internal medicine according to criteria of the ...

Microstructure and magnetic properties of nanoparticles can be tailored by optimising the synthesis procedure and changing chemical composition. In this study, a two-step procedure, i.e., coprecipitation in the presence of PEG 300 followed by microwave assisted (MW) hydrothermal synthesis, was introduced to obtain CoxFe3-xO4 (x = 0, 0.1 and 0.2) nanoparticles. It was found that with the increase of Co content, particle/crystallite size increased, with significant change of coercivity (Hc). The mixed ...

This paper gives hoisting rope quality evaluation based on the laboratory results. Mean of the sample, variance, and standard deviation of a sample of wire stretching strength are calculated, and 90 percent and 99 percent confidence interval for the mean of the stretching strength value is found. Conclusion about further use of the wire is based on the established confidence intervals.

Having many positive characteristics which make the gas competitive in relation to other fuels, a number of natural gas users is constantly rising. During a selection of the methods of natural gas usage, the energetic, economical, environmental and the other factors which influence the optimal choice are analyzed. Definitions, terms and the safe aspects of the natural gas usage with special reference to the safety of the gas usage in the urban areas will be analyzed in this study. A model for analyzing ...

Development operation in underground mining require high performance drilling and blasting. In order to determine best performing cut in Lece mine series of experiments were conducted. It was noticed that sequencing of initiation has crucial impact on cut performance. Line cut had experienced filling of empty holes with blasted material that was indistinguishable from the main rock. Finally, best results were obtained by delayed initiation of charges in circular pattern. Such cut construction provided ...

The paper shows results of determination of security factors F within the gray clay open pit 'Dobro Selo'. The method used is Hoek. For this purpose, a very complex analysis of the slope stability within gray clays open pit 'Dobro Selo' was carried out. According to this method, the values of the stability factor F were analyzed depending the slope inclination α and slope height h. The security factor was determined in this paper by using Hoek method in gray clay open pit 'Dobro Selo' depending on ...

This paper presents a review of the advantages of application of JKSimBlast 2DFace software in design phase of underground premises. The aim of this research was to show possibilities of the software and possibility of its application in design of underground premises with suggestions for further work. A model of a drift "TIP 5" was developed and analysed in the software to show all the possibilities of the application of software in underground construction. Further work would require a detailed ...

Demolition represents a sequence of operations that are referring to removal of the objects. Defect, damage or deformations of the objects are just some of the reasons why it accesses different demolition of building structures. The goal of demolition includes the construction of new objects or simply freeing up space for other purposes. For all these reasons, special emphasis should be placed on the technology of the performance of works. The most dominant technologies that are now successfully ...

Evaluation model for bucket wheel excavator remaining capability is analyzed in this paper. Model was formed to introduce fuzzy theory in dependability analysis regards to performances of reliability, maintainability and maintenance support, as well for synthesis of dependability from lowest to higher level of excavators' structure. Dependability was used as the most complex performance which covers in total quality of service for specific technical system and fuzzy sets theory was introduced as ...

Selection of adequate surfactant is one of the most important steps in preparation for ASP EOR. There are many parameters to be taken in considerations in this process but different authors are prioritizing different parameters. Shown here is comparative analysis of two surfactants chosen according difference set of priorities, in one low IFT and stability and type of created microemulsion was priority (Surfactant A) and in another mobility of created microemulsion (Surfactant B). Bottle test was ...

Almost all of rock masses are more or less anisotropic medium. Foliation, layering, cracking and cleavage are some of the rock attributes that indicate to anisotropy presence. Due to the existence of these discontinuities, elastic waves propagation velocities along certain directions are extremely different. In this paper, we investigated total of 50 samples which are divided into two groups of samples, isotropic and anisotropic samples. Longitudinal elastic waves propagation velocities are measured ...

The explosion that caused by blasting is accompanied by the release of a large amount of energy. That energy can be used for rock mass destruction. At the same time, one part of that energy is utilized for rock destruction while the second one gets lost in the rock mass in the form of seismic wave. Regarding that, blasting effects can be divided into two categories such as: useful work and useless work. Useful work is manifested in form of crushing and milling of the rock material in the limited ...
