Judith A. Bowey,

U. Goswami (1999,Journal of Experimental Child Psychology,72, 210–219) argues that the findings of J. A. Bowey, L. Vaughan, and J. Hansen (1998,Journal of Experimental Child Psychology,68, 108–133) are uninterpretable. This paper examines each of Goswami's criticisms of the methodology employed by Bowey et al. (1998). None can explain the differential analogy and phonological priming effects reported by Bowey et al. More fundamentally, none can explain the critical finding of Bowey et al. that, when ...

La voz poética es el Hacedor de un mundo consagrado a la mujer y es conocedora y testigo de ese hecho: crea para ella un texto prolijo de imágenes y la rescata a través del ejercicio de la escritura. Sensitivity of BMI in diagnosing obesity drops with age, approaching 30% in individuals aged 80 and older.1 A subset of individuals was previously identified that would be overlooked in clinical practice as being at low risk who had a normal BMI and high percentage of body fat (normal-weight obesity (NWO)).2 This group is at high risk of cardiometabolic risk and mortality.3 Although these factors can ultimately ...

An alternative interpretation of their data is offered in terms of differential item functioning. The prevalences of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and HIV are much higher among incarcerated populations than the general public. For example, the incidence of HCV in the United States has been estimated at 1.8% [1], and more recently at 2.5% from a population-based sample of young women living in poorer neighborhoods in California [2]. However, 41.2% of California inmates were anti-HCV positive in 1994 [3]. In 1999, 2.1% of state and federal prison inmates were known to be HIV positive [4]. Whereas rates of ...

Abstract Acute stress disorder (ASD) is a good predictor of posttraumatic stress disorder in adult populations, although the emphasis on dissociation symptoms within the diagnosis has been questioned. Recent studies suggest that ASD may also have application to children and adolescents. The present study examined properties of ASD within youth.
