Laura Andre, Debbie Cavers,

Cluster headache is a rare primary headache disorder said to be one of the most painful conditions in existence. Limited evidence demonstrates cluster headache patients have difficulties securing a diagnosis and poor access to services. There is a gap in research around psychosocial needs, meaning there are no evidence-based guidelines to inform optimal management of this patient group in primary care. The aim of this study is to explore the perspectives of cluster headache patients in the United ...

Heidemarie K. Laurent, Jennifer C. Ablow,

This study investigated depression-related differences in primiparous mothers’ neural response to their own infant’s distress cues. Mothers diagnosed with major depressive disorder (n = 11) and comparison mothers with no diagnosable psychopathology (n = 11) were exposed to their own 18-months-old infant’s cry sound, as well as unfamiliar infant’s cry and control sound, during functional neuroimaging. Depressed mothers’ response to own infant cry greater than other sounds was compared to non-depressed ...

Robert J. Lucas, Russell G. Foster,

Cryptochrome proteins are key components of the circadian systems of both Drosophila and mammals. In Drosophila, they appear to be responsible for the entrainment of the circadian clock by the light-dark cycle, while in mammals they perform an important role in rhythm generation itself.

... C-β enzyme, encoded by PLC21C, presumably playing a dedicated role in clock resetting. We show that this pathway requires the ubiquitin ligase CULLIN-3, possibly mediating CRY-independent degradation of TIMELESS during light:dark cycles. Our results suggest that the PLC21C -mediated contribution to circadian clock entrainment operates on a drastically slower timescale compared with fast, norpA- dependent visual phototransduction. Our findings are therefore consistent with the general idea that the visual system samples light over prolonged periods of time (h) in order to reliably synchronize their internal clocks with ...
