... 0.3255% higher. Therefore if the Nimbus 7 satellite continues to operate properly until a period of about 1 year after the launch of UARS with its active cavity radiometer irradiance monitor (ACRIM), it appears that the differences between Nimbus 7, SMM ACRIM, and UARS ACRIM can be measured to within a few hundredths of a percent. A self‐consistent set of solar irradiance measurements from several satellites over nearly two solar cycles appears feasible.

A new modular Active Cavity Radiometer Irradiance Monitor (ACRIM) has been developed for the Earth Observation System (EOS) ACRIM III experiment. ACRIM III will be launched on a dedicated small satellite (ACRIMSAT) in late 1999 for a five year EOS Phase I total solar irradiance (TSI) monitoring mission. The new ...

Both measurements used active-cavity radiometers (ACR). For days when measurements are available from both satellites, the mean difference in the irradiance values is 2,18 W·m-2. The ...

The Active Cavity Radiometer (ACR), an accurate absolute pyrheliometer, has been developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for measurements of total solar irradience. They have been used to discover a -2.2% error in the International Pyrheliometric Scale and to make measurements in balloon flight experiments yielding a solar constant value of 136.6 (±0.7) mw/cm2. New ACR's are being developed to monitor the total output of solar optical radiation in balloon, satellite and space shuttle experiments with longterm absolute uncertainty ...
