Induced osteogenesis of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may provide an important tool for bone injures treatment. Human umbilical cord and adipose tissue are routinely discarded as clinical waste and may be used as uncontroversial MSCs sources. It still remains to be verified which source of MSCs is the most suitable for bone regeneration. The aim of this research was to investigate the osteogenic potential of human MSCs derived from adipose tissue (ASCs) and Wharton’s jelly of the human umbilical cord ( ...

The increase in the production and consumption of pharmaceuticals increases their presence in the global environment, which may result in direct threats to living organisms. For this reason, there is a need for new methods to analyze drugs in environmental samples. Here, a new procedure for separating and determining selected drugs (diclofenac, ibuprofen, and carbamazepine) from bottom sediment and water samples was developed. Drugs were determined by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography ...

The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility has been determined for several hydrated copper(II) carboxylate complexes. The susceptibility-temperature data for the hydrates bis(glycinato) aquocopper(II), bis(hydrogen-o-phthalato)diaquocopper(II) and o-phthalatoaquocopper(II) are described by the Curie-Weiss Law [θ(°K) = −7 ± 6,−0.6 ± 3.3 and −26± 7, respectively]. Additional epr studies suggest the presence of a low dimensional pathway for interactions between copper(II) ions in (o-phthalato) ...

A methodology, an application scenario and a new system enabling collaborative distributed design have been presented. The system based on Tool Registration and Management Services (TRMS) constitutes the core of the engineering collaborative infrastructure that has been deployed in the distributed design of intellectual property (IP) components. The system assures information security (including user authorization, data and transfer encrypting), communication through firewalls, remote administration ...

Abstract A room-temperature EPR study of CaCu x Cd 1-x (H 3 C 2 O 2 ) 4 for 1⩾ x ⩾ 0.9 revealed no dramatic change in linewidth as Cd 2+ was incorporated into the lattice. The analysis of these results is consistent with the exchange field being less than or of the same order of magnitude as the dipolar and hyperfine fields but does not rule out one-dimensional behavior. A study in the ab plane of the x = 1 end member revealed a change in both linewidth and lineshape with angle. A simple model incorporating ...

Background An elevated platelet count may lead to an increased incidence of systemic thromboembolism or unexpectedly to thrombohemorragic complications. Both, incidences of systemic thromboembolism and unexpected thrombohemorragic complications (bleeding) were described in patients with an elevated platelet count. In the present study the quantitative hemostatic indices were measured in 46 patients with thrombocytosis (platelet count > 400.000 per microliter), including 23 patients with secondary thrombocytosis ( ...
