In 1606 the manor of Enghien was bought by Charles , Prince of Arenberg , from Henry IV of France. Charles and his wife Anne of Croy were both skilled archers. In 1619 Anne even won a tournament and in the Museum of Enghien there is a portrait showing her with a collar of an archers' guild (i not however of the St. Sebastian's Guild) over her left arm. AbstractAlbert Eckhout worked in Brazil between 1637 and 1644. The National Museum of Denmark possesses a collection of his paintings, supposedly painted in Brazil. A technical examination of the paintings and a search of old documents showed no definite evidence about where they were painted and there is even some doubt about the authenticity of the signatures. Some of the paintings have a paste lining preserved from the mid-seventeenth century.
