Objectives: In patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) the presence of satellite metastatic nodules may be considered a contraindication to surgical treatment. The use of spiral computed tomography (CT) scan has improved the accuracy of the diagnostic assessment of pulmonary diseases, but has also led to the detection of a consistent number of indeterminate satellite lesions. Obtaining a differential diagnosis of these lesions is extremely important in defining the therapeutic strategy. The ...

Coxiella burnetii is an obligate intracellular pathogen and the cause of Q fever in many animal species and humans. Several studies have reported the association between C. burnetii and abortion, premature delivery, stillbirth, and weak offspring. However, no solid evidence indicates that C. burnetii causes endometritis, subfertility, and retained fetal membranes. For this study, histopathological and PCR evaluation were performed on 40 uterine biopsies from dairy cattle with poor fertility. Uterine ...

The molecule is made up of a cyclohexane-type ring, [(HAlN-i-Pr)2(H2AlNH-i-Pr)], in skewboat conformation, on each side of which is bonded an -H2AlNH-i-Pr- bridging unit between a nitrogen atom and an aluminum atom of the ring. The molecule lies on a binary axis of the crystal, but this symmetry is fulfilled ...

An unhealthy diet is considered to be one of the main causes for increases in obesity and chronic diseases. Food choices are frequently influenced by food systems and environments along with the availability and affordability of healthy and sustainable food. In this context, a major contemporary challenge lies in improving these aspects in order to support healthy dietary choices. Hence, to address this issue, here, we propose a small-scale approach called SANI (Italian for “healthy”) which involves ...

Proteomics and metabolomics investigations of body fluids present several challenges for biomarker discovery of several diseases. The search for biomarkers is actually conducted in different body fluids, even if the ideal biomarker can be found in an easily accessible biological fluid, because, if validated, the biomarker could be sought in the healthy population.
