Levetiracetam (LEV) is an anti-epileptic drug (AED) that sensitizes glioblastoma (GBM) to temozolomide (TMZ) chemotherapy by inhibiting O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) expression. Adding LEV to the standard of care (SOC) for GBM may improve TMZ efficacy. This study aimed to pool the existing evidence in the literature to quantify LEV’s effect on GBM survival and characterize its safety profile to determine whether incorporating LEV into the SOC is warranted. Alexander Ross Clarke, Henry James,

The principal triangnlation of the United Kingdom was finished in 1851; and the triangulations of. France, Belgium, Prussia, and Russia were so far advanced in 1860 that, if connected, we should have a continuous triangulation from the Island of Valentia, on the south-west extremity of Ireland, in north latitude 51° 55' 20", and longitude 10° 20' 40", west of Greenwich, to Orsk, on the River Ural in Russia. It was therefore possible to measure the length of an arc of parallel in latitude 52° of ...

That man is to be envied who can devote many of the best years of his life to the study of a special branch of science and make some advances in it. Such a man will usually receive recognition of the value of his labours from his fellows in the world of science, and this was certainly the case with Colonel Clarke. The excellence of his many years' work on geodetical subjects, such as thereduction of observations, formulre for the spheroid, figures of the earth, standards of length, and similar matters, ...

Induction of antitumor immunity using autologous tumor proteins is an attractive approach to cancer therapy. However, better methods and stimulants to present these autologous proteins back to the immune system are needed. Here, we identify streptavidin as a novel carrier protein and stimulant, and test the efficacy of both syngeneic (rat) and autologous vaccines (dogs) using streptavidin in combination with reduced soluble tumor proteins. Initial syngeneic vaccine studies in the 9L rat glioma model ...

The Agilent Chip Cube Interface is a microfluidic chip-based technology originally designed for nanospray molecular mass spectrometry in which the sample enrichment, nano-column, tubing, connectors and spray tip were integrated into a single biocompatible chip. Here we describe the hyphenation of the Chip Cube Interface to ICP-MS via modification of the standard HPLC chip design and a new total consumption nebuliser suitable for flow rates as low as 300 nL min−1. The potential of the instrument ...

Abstract. The COSMOS-UK observation network has been providing field-scale soil moisture and hydrometeorological measurements across the UK since 2013. At the time of publication a total of 51 COSMOS-UK sites have been established, each delivering high-temporal resolution data in near-real time. Each site utilizes a cosmic-ray neutron sensor, which counts epithermal neutrons at the land surface. These measurements are used to derive field-scale near-surface soil water content, which can provide ...
