In the U deposit area at San Marcos in Chihuahua, Mexico, hydrogeological and climatic conditions are very similar to the Nopal I, Peña Blanca U deposit, 50 km away. The physicochemical parameters and activity concentrations of several 238U-series isotopes have been determined in surface, vadose and ground waters at San Marcos. The application of some published models to activity ratios of these isotopes has allowed assessing the order of magnitude of transport parameters in the area. Resulting ...

There is a lack of knowledge about the antimicrobial activity of plant extracts obtained with organic solvents different to ethanol, methanol or acetone. In this study, plant extracts from Larrea tridentata, Flourensia cernua, Agave lechuguilla, Opuntia sp. and Yucca sp., obtained with alternative organic solvents (lanolin and cocoa butter) and water were tested against the fungus Rhizoctonia solani. In addition, the IC50 concentration of each plant extract was determined. Extractions using the alternative ...

A M s = 6.5 earthquake occurred on 8 July, 1975 in the northern part of the Gulf of California. The calculated seismic moment is 2 × 10 25 dyne‐cm. This event occurred in a region of particular interest since the position of the transform fault in this region was not well known and had been locked for at least 20 years. Over 180 aftershocks were located along a zone 54 Km long, 10 Km wide and 10‐15 Km deep running between Baja California and Isla Angel de la Guarda. The depth of the aftershock zone ...

High gain portable seismographs have been operated at 22 sites along the San Miguel fault zone, Baja California, Mexico. We report results in terms of normalized rates of microearthquakes per day. Very high rates, exceeding 100 events/day, were observed near the southeast end of the San Miguel fault. Sixteen of the 22 sites recorded rates exceeding 20 events/day. The overall micro‐seismicity is higher than along most of the San Andreas fault in Southern California. At two sites, arrays were operated ...

AbstractEEG spectral parameters were computed in a group of children with different degrees of difficulty in learning to read and write. For statistical analyses, Z-transformed values according to normative age-regression equations were used to control the age effects. Canonical Correlation Analysis between absolute power in different bands and the categories of the educational evaluation (good, regular, poor and very poor) showed that more delta was probably related to a poor evaluation and more ...
