A case of immediate pollicization of an amputated index finger is reported. The patient sustained accidental amputation of the entire thumb and index finger and subtotal amputation of the middle finger of her left hand. Two years following replantation of the index finger to the thumb position, the finger has limited motion but the patient has a functional replanted digit.

The patient was taken to theatre where the perineal wound was debrided and the remaining urethra brought down as a perineal urethrostomy, with a local cutaneous flap rotated to provide coverage for the urethra. Abstract Successful microsurgical replantation of a penis amputated at the level of the pubis is a rare occurrence worldwide. Moreover, the use of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) for a postoperative replant Pseudomonas wound infection has not been reported. There is also disagreement regarding the importance of microsurgical repair of only the dorsal arteries or only the profundi arteries of the penis. A case is reported of penile replantation with a postoperative Pseudomonas wound infection treated with ...

Microscopic examination of a human scrotum amputated because of elephantiasis showed numerous heparinocytes around lymph and blood vessels. One hundred and twenty-six mg of purified heparin per kg of wet tissue was obtained. Based on the purified material, the scrotum contained at least 16,380 I.U. of activity per kg of fresh tissue. These findings are further evidence that mast cells are sources of heparin. They also explain the absence of thrombosis in elephantiasis.

The microneurovascular replantation of a completely amputated penis is described. Fifteen hours after the replantation an arterial reanastomosis was performed due to a secondary thrombosis. The result after 3 months is excellent, with returned capacity of erection.

A rare case of successful replantation of a totally amputated penis is reported. By using microvascular techniques a superior result was achieved. Not only were all tissue preserved, but also urination, sensation and erection returned to normal. Specific points to be considered in penile replantation are discussed.

Purpose Penile amputation in children is rare. If the amputated organ cannot be salvaged, standard treatment options include sex reassignment or creation of a penoid with a musculocutaneous flap. We describe our experience with phallic reconstruction after amputation. Methods Between 2005 and 2007, we observed 3 patients with penile amputation. All presented a flat pubic scar and a severe urethral stricture for which urinary diversion had been performed in two. The first step of the procedure was ...

This paper seeks to present information on apotemnophilia. It points out the need of a man to have a healthy leg amputated, despite the fact that he cannot find a surgeon who will do so. By writing this paper, the author hopes to bring to light the characteristics underlying such a desire. After reviewing the scarce literature on this subject, a case history of apotemnophilia has been given. In the discussion similarities and discrepancies in two cases reported by Money have been summarized.
