The rheological characteristics and transit time of gastric digesta and the postprandial glycaemic response in mice orally administered with water (control) or pectin solutions supplemented (AP-Ca) or not supplemented (AP) with CaCO3 were elucidated. AP and AP-Ca increased viscosity, storage and loss moduluses (G' and G'') of mice gastric digesta. The gelling capacity of AP-Ca in acidic gastric conditions appeared to provide a greater enhancement of gastric digesta viscosity compared with AP. The postprandial ...

Motivated by experimental indications of a significant presence of heavy nuclei in the cosmic ray flux at ultra high energies (≳1019 eV), we consider the effects of Planck scale suppressed Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV) on the propagation of cosmic ray nuclei. In particular we focus on LIV effects on the photodisintegration of nuclei onto the background radiation fields. After a general discussion of the behavior of the relevant quantities, we apply our formalism to a simplified model where the ...

We present a derivation of the time evolution equations for the energy content of nonhelical magnetic fields and the accompanying turbulent flows from first principles of incompressible magnetohydrodynamics in the general framework of homogeneous and isotropic turbulence. This is then applied to the early Universe, i.e., the evolution of primordial magnetic fields. Numerically integrating the equations, we find that most of the energy is concentrated at an integral wavenumber scale ${k}_{I}$ where ...

We extend our recent derivation of the time evolution equations for the energy content of magnetic fields and turbulent motions for incompressible, homogeneous, and isotropic turbulence to include the case of nonvanishing helicity. These equations are subsequently numerically integrated in order to predict the present day primordial magnetic field strength and correlation length, depending on its initial helicity and magnetic energy density. We find that all prior analytic predictions for helical ...

We determine the effect of intergalactic magnetic fields on the distribution of high energy gamma rays by performing three-dimensional Monte Carlo simulations of the development of gamma-ray-induced electromagnetic cascades in the magnetized intergalactic medium. We employ the so-called 'Large Sphere Observer' method to efficiently simulate blazar gamma ray halos. We study magnetic fields with a Batchelor spectrum and with maximal left- and right-handed helicities. We also consider the case of sources ...

Primordial magnetic fields (PMFs), being present before the epoch of cosmic recombination, induce small-scale baryonic density fluctuations. These inhomogeneities lead to an inhomogeneous recombination process that alters the peaks and heights of the large-scale anisotropies of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation. Utilizing numerical compressible MHD calculations and a Monte Carlo Markov chain analysis, which compares calculated CMB anisotropies with those observed by the WMAP and Planck ...

Relativistic jets from blazars are known to be sources of very-high-energy gamma rays (VHEGRs). During their propagation in the intergalactic space, VHEGRs interact with pervasive cosmological photon fields such as the extragalactic background light (EBL) and the cosmic microwave background (CMB), producing electron-positron pairs. These pairs can upscatter CMB/EBL photons to high energies via inverse Compton scattering, thereby continuing the cascade process. This is often used to set limits on intergalactic ...

The origin of magnetic fields in the universe is an open problem. Seed magnetic fields possibly produced in early times may have survived up to the present day close to their original form, providing an untapped window to the primeval universe. The recent observations of high-energy neutrinos from the blazar TXS 0506+056 in association with an electromagnetic counterpart in a broad range of wavelengths can be used to probe intergalactic magnetic fields via the time delay between the neutrinos and ...

One of the most promising ways to probe intergalactic magnetic fields (IGMFs) is through gamma rays produced in electromagnetic cascades initiated by high-energy gamma rays or cosmic rays in the intergalactic space. Because the charged component of the cascade is sensitive to magnetic fields, gamma-ray observations of distant objects such as blazars can be used to constrain IGMF properties. Ground-based and space-borne gamma-ray telescopes deliver spectral, temporal, and angular information of high- ...

Abstract The landscape of high- and ultra-high-energy astrophysics has changed in the last decade, largely due to the inflow of data collected by large-scale cosmic-ray, gamma-ray, and neutrino observatories. At the dawn of the multimessenger era, the interpretation of these observations within a consistent framework is important to elucidate the open questions in this field. CRPropa 3.2 is a Monte Carlo code for simulating the propagation of high-energy particles in the Universe. This version represents ...

The consequences of the vacuum polarization effect in magnetic fields around a Schwarzschild black hole on the motion of charged particles are investigated in this work. Using the weak electromagnetic field approximation, we discuss the nonminimal coupling between magnetic fields and gravity caused by the vacuum polarization and study the equations of motion for the case of a magnetic field configuration which asymptotically approaches a dipole magnetic field. It is shown that the presence of nonminimal ...

The origin of the first magnetic fields in the Universe is a standing problem in cosmology. Intergalactic magnetic fields (IGMFs) may be an untapped window to the primeval Universe, providing further constrains on magnetogenesis. We demonstrate the feasibility of using ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) to constrain the helicity of IGMFs by performing simulations of cosmic-ray propagation in simple magnetic field configurations. We show that the first harmonic moments of the arrival distribution ...

A robotic manipulator mounted on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is called an aerial manipulation system usually. Any movements of manipulator affect the stability of the UAV. In particular, the horizontal shift of the center of mass (COM) requires of the UAV the powerful controller that change forces of the propellers of quadrotor to bring the UAV to a stable state. To make manipulations by UAV it is important to save the center of mass of the aerial manipulation system in stable state. In this study, ...

In this paper, we propose a conceptual model of a cyberphysical environment based on a new approach to distribution of sensor, network, computing, information-control and service tasks between mobile robots, embedded devices, mobile client devices, stationary service equipment, and cloud computing and information resources. The task of structural-parametric synthesis of the corresponding cyberphysical system is formalized. Methods of integer-valued programming are used for the task solution.

: Data visualization plays an increasingly important role in NGS data analysis. With advances in both sequencing and computational technologies, it has become a new bottleneck in genomics studies. Indeed, evaluation of de novo genome assemblies is one of the areas that can benefit from the visualization. However, even though multiple quality assessment methods are now available, existing visualization tools are hardly suitable for this purpose. Here, we present Icarus-a novel genome visualizer for accurate ...

The first ideas concerning the principle of operation of non-mechanical magneto-hydrodynamic pumping systems were originally created at the end of the 1960s during studies of efficient heat exchange systems in nuclear energy sources using liquid metals as coolant. Currently, these ideas are of increasing interest in the creation of many critical technologies that require precise flow control in distributed energy transfer systems, in particular for a new generation of environmentally friendly efficient ...
