We investigate five dimensional Einstein spaces in warped geometries from the point of view of the four dimensional physically relevant Robertson-Walker-Friedman cosmological metric and the Schwarzschild metric. We show that a four-dimensional cosmology with a closed spacelike section and a cosmological constant can be imbedded into five-dimensional flat space-time.

People tend to evaluate information from reliable sources more favourably, but it is unclear exactly how perceivers' worldviews interact with this source credibility effect. In a large and diverse cross-cultural sample (N = 10,195 from 24 countries), we presented participants with obscure, meaningless statements attributed to either a spiritual guru or a scientist. Properties of a set of operators introduced by Baker, Coon, and Yu are discussed. The operators involve generalizations of harmonic oscillator operators and facilitate the construction of a family of dual resonance models which includes the Veneziano model as a limiting case. Matrix representations of the operators are constructed, and it is shown that the operators have finite norm in contrast with the unboundedness of creation and annihilation operators of the Veneziano model.

We investigate the thermodynamics of the two parameter generalized bosonic and fermionic quantum gases, whose particle algebras are invariant under the quantum group SUp/q(d) for all p, q and d. As well as considering the high temperature behavior, we also discuss the low temperature limit of the deformed fermionic gas.

We discuss a two-parameter deformed quantum group fermion gas with SU(q/p)(2) symmetry. In order to obtain the role of the deformation parameters (q,p) on the thermodynamics of the system, we calculate several thermodynamical functions and investigate the high temperature behavior of a SU(q/p)(2) fermion gas through a SU(q/p)(2)-invariant fermionic Hamiltonian. However, the ordinary fermion gas results can be obtained by applying the limit q=p=1.

We report our discovery of a large increase in deuteron polarization up to values of about 0.5 due to frequency modulation of the polarizing microwaves in a 2 l polarized target using the method of dynamic nuclear polarization, during a deep inelastic polarized muon-deuteron scattering experiment at CERN.Measurements of the electron paramagnetic resonance absorption spectra show that frequency modulation gives rise to additional microwave absorption in the spectral wings.Although the new phenomenon ...

In this paper we calculate the basic thermodynamical quantities for a system of bosonic simple harmonic oscillators (BSHOs) and the corresponding system of fermionic simple harmonic oscillators (FSHOs) using a dispersion relationship similar to cases in general relativity and condensed matter physics.
