Research in man-made systems capable of self-diagnosis and self-repair is becoming increasingly relevant in a range of scenarios in which in situ repair/diagnosis by a human operator is infeasible within an appropriate time frame. In this paper, we present an approach to the multi-robot team diagnosis problem that utilizes gradient-based training of multivariate Gaussian distributions. We then evaluate this approach using a testbed involving modular mobile robots, each assembled from four electromechanically ...

We report an experimental and theoretical vibrational study of the high-performance piezoelectric GeO2 material. Polarized and variable-temperature Raman spectroscopic measurements on high-quality, water-free, flux-grown α-quartz GeO2 single crystals combined with state-of-the-art first-principles calculations allow the controversies on the mode symmetry assignment to be solved, the nature of the vibrations to be described in detail, and the origin of the high thermal stability of this material ...

Abstract After peripheral nerve injury microglial reactivity change in the spinal cord is associated with an early activation of Janus kinase ( JAK )/ STAT 3 transduction pathway whose blockade attenuates local inflammation and pain hypersensitivity. However, the consequences of microglial JAK / STAT 3‐mediated signaling on neighboring cells are unknown. Using an in vitro paradigm we assessed the impact of microglial JAK / STAT 3 activity on functional characteristics of astrocytes and spinal cord neurons. ...

Immune reconstitution is critical for clinical outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). To determine the impact of absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) recovery on clinical outcomes, we conducted a retrospective study of 1109 adult patients who underwent a first allogeneic HSCT from 2003 through 2009, excluding patients who died or relapsed before day 30. Recently, polycarbonates have been proposed as alternative materials to poly(ethylene oxide) as the polymeric matrix for solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs). Aliphatic polycarbonates SPEs have shown excellent ionic conductivity values even at room temperature, good electrochemical stability and high lithium transference number. In most works, the aliphatic carbonates have been synthesized using two main routes, ring-opening polymerization of cyclic carbonates and copolymerization between CO2 and epoxides. ...

Lithium-sulfur batteries are on the run to become the next generation energy storage technology. First of all due to its high theoretical energy density but also for its sustainability and low cost. However, there are still several challenges to take into account such as reducing the shuttle effect, decreasing the amount of conductive carbon to increase the energy density or enhancing the sulfur utilization. Herein, redox-active binders based on polyimide-polyether copolymers have been proposed ...

Backgound Venetoclax (V) plus obinutuzumab (O) regimen is active as frontline CLL treatment; a little over half of patients (pts) will achieve undetectable minimal residual disease in the bone marrow (BM-uMRD) with one year of time-limited therapy (Fischer et al. NEJM 2019). Novel strategies may further augment the efficacy of VO. Ibrutinib was previously combined with VO, but relatively high rates of infusion reactions and neutropenia were observed, as were the characteristic toxicities of ibrutinib ...

Several PI3Kδ inhibitors are approved for the therapy of B cell malignancies, but their clinical use has been limited by unpredictable autoimmune toxicity. We have recently reported promising efficacy results in treating chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients with combination therapy with the PI3Kδγ inhibitor duvelisib and fludarabine cyclophosphamide rituximab (FCR) chemoimmunotherapy, but approximately one-third of patients develop autoimmune toxicity. We show here that duvelisib FCR treatment ...

Background While venetoclax (V) plus obinutuzumab (O) is a highly effective frontline CLL regimen, outcomes remain suboptimal for high-risk patients (pts). The efficacy of ibrutinib plus VO in such pts is encouraging, but cardiac and infectious toxicities (tox) are common. We hypothesized that a time-limited triplet with the more selective BTKi acalabrutinib (A) would be active and well-tolerated. We previously published results on an initial cohort unrestricted by genetic risk (Davids et al., 2021), ...

Armand Savioz, David J. Jeenes, H.P. Kocher, D. Haas,

In a comparative study of housekeeping genes of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, the nucleotide sequence of a proline biosynthetic gene, proC, of P. aeruginosa has been determined. The subunit molecular mass (∼ 29 kDa) and the N-terminal amino acid sequence of purified Δ1-pyrroline 5-carboxylate reductase, the proC gene product, were in agreement with the proC nucleotide sequence. A survey of pairs of isofunctional genes from P. aeruginosa and E. coli reveals that within each pair, translated ...
