Abstract Background: Ibrutinib is a first-in-class selective, irreversible inhibitor of Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) approved for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and R/R chronic lymphocytic leukemia. In heavily pretreated MCL, in monotherapy, an ORR of 68% was observed in a phase II study (Wang, 2013). Toxicity is mainly hematological and gastrointestinal. Safety profiles for combination of ibrutinib with R-CHOP or R-benda are acceptable and these ...

The Bible was composed both by way of oral tradition and by scribal activity. Various descriptions exist of the development and relationship of the dominant forms of orality and scribal tradition throughout the history of media culture. Utilising the insights of, and debate on, the field of Biblical Performance Criticism, this article argues for an articulated description of the interrelationship of oral and written. The article argues that these two aspects cannot be absolutely separated, either ...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Residency reform in the form of work hour restrictions has forced academic medical centers to develop alternate models of care to provide inpatient care. One such model is the use of physician assistants (PAs) with hospitalists. However, these models of care have not been widely evaluated. OBJECTIVE: To compare the outcomes of inpatient care provided by a hospitalist‐PA (H‐PA) model with the traditional resident based model. DESIGN, SETTING and PATIENTS: We conducted a retrospective ...

Although keeping patients informed is a part of quality hospital care, inpatients often report they are not well informed. The authors placed whiteboards in each patient room on medicine wards in their hospital and asked nurses and physicians to use them to improve communication with inpatients. The authors then examined the effect of these whiteboards by comparing satisfaction with communication of patients discharged from medical wards before and after whiteboards were placed to satisfaction with ...
