Filtration log removals ( logR 's) were determined by pilot plant seeding experiments for a selected array of organisms, i.e., protozoan cysts, algae, bacteria, and viruses, as well as turbidity/particles. Removals of these organisms and particles varied from one species to another within the range 1.4⩽logR⩽5.1 for "reference," i.e., specified, conditions. For other conditions, called here "excursion" conditions, logR 's were found to be proportional to alum dose between zero and "optimum" the latter being ...

Abstract Abstract 868 Background: Relapse continues to be the primary cause of treatment failure in patients (pts) with NHL undergoing transplantation. We have previously reported the adverse prognostic value of PET+ in autologous transplants (AUTO) and disease refractoriness in pts undertaking a non-myeloablative allogeneic transplantation (NST). In order to improve outcome, we and others have previously established the feasibility of addition of 90YIT to the transplant conditioning. Herein, we report ...

Abstract Abstract 2005 Background: The addition of high-dose rituximab (hR) has been shown to improve results for pts with relapsed CD20+ diffuse large b-cell (DLBCL) and follicular (FL) lymphoma who undergo high-dose chemotherapy (HDC) with BEAM (hR-BEAM) followed by ASCT (Khouri, J. Clin.Oncol, 2005). More recently, we and others reported upon the safety of incorporating the radio-labeled antibody Yttrium-90 Ibritumomab Tiuxetan (Zevalin®) to the BEAM conditioning (Z-BEAM). Herein, we compare the long- ...

The death of a child is a tragedy of astronomical proportions. Pediatric trauma patients often have injuries so extensive that there is no hope of recovery. Though the tragedy can never be undone, organ donation can save lives and create a legacy for the donor and their loved ones. Organ donation is a multi-factorial and dynamic process that is further complicated in the case of pediatric trauma patients due to the sudden-onset and intense emotions experienced by the patient's family. A critical ...
