We present a record of seasonal and inter-annual oxygen (δ18O) and carbon (δ13C) isotope ratios from an 81-year-old stalagmite from Moondyne Cave, southwest Australia. The growth history of stalagmite MND-S1 is known since it grew on a cave boardwalk that was installed in 1911 and removed in 1992. This stalagmite provides an excellent test of speleothem climate proxies ...

Engineers in Alaska initiated a program to bring potable water and wastewater service to a town of 500 Yup'ik Eskimos. This entailed building a 7.2 km boardwalk over permafrost so that four-wheelers towing trailer-mounted tanks could cross the otherwise impassable terrain. As part of the program, Village Safe Water engineers provided low-flow fixtures for existing bathrooms and bolt-on modular bathrooms to houses that lacked them. All work was constructed by Yup'ik crews.
