Abstract Progenitor B cells reside in complex bone marrow (BM) microenvironments where they receive signals for growth and maturation. We reported previously that the CXCL12-focal adhesion kinase (FAK)-VLA4 pathway plays an important role in progenitor B cell adhesion and migration. Background: The frequency of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is inversely related to left ventricular (LV) function, yet many events occur in patients with an ejection fraction (EF) of >35% who are not currently candidates for implantable cardioverter-defibrillator therapy. We hypothesized that quantifying regional inhomogeneity in myocardial sympathetic innervation and/or viability (scar and hibernating myocardium) could provide an approach to identify subgroups at the highest risk of SCA.

The CovidSurg-Cancer Consortium aimed to explore the impact of COVID-19 in surgical patients and services for solid cancers at the start of the pandemic. Pulmonary complications are the most common cause of death after surgery.
