The prevalent c.903+469T>C mutation in MTRR causes the cblE type of homocystinuria by strengthening an SRSF1 binding site in an ESE leading to activation of a pseudoexon. We hypothesized that other splicing regulatory elements (SREs) are also critical for MTRR pseudoexon inclusion. The Zermatt-Saas Fee Zone (ZSZ) was subducted to eclogite-facies conditions, reaching peak pressures and temperatures of 20–28 kbar and 500–630 °C. Abstract Two siblings, a boy age 12 and his sister age 4 years, presented with proteinuria and hematuria, hypertension, and chronic hemolytic anemia. At age 13 years, the boy developed an episode of severe hypertensive encephalopathy and transient renal failure. SmNd isotope data from garnets in ultrahigh-pressure (coesite-bearing) eclogite from the Western Alps were obtained to determine the age of peak metamorphism and exhumation rates of deeply buried oceanic crust in the Zermatt-Saas ophiolite complex. We report an exceptionally well-constrained SmNd isochron age of 40.6±2.6 Ma from the Lago di Cignana eclogite. Abstract The gene encoding the Drosophila protein phosphatase 2A 55 kd regulatory subunit (PR55) is located at 85F and directs the synthesis of differentially spliced transcripts. Maternal RNAs are present at very high levels in early embryos and decline around cellularization. Zygotic transcripts are present mainly in the developing embryonic nervous system and gonads. Transcripts are uniformly distributed in third instar larval discs and testes and at lower levels in the proliferative centers of the brain. ...

Abstract We report a case of anaphylaxis caused by irrigation with a bacitracin solution during lumbar laminectomy. The patient had been exposed to bacitracin during a previous anterior cervical discectomy. We recommend avoiding the use of irrigation solutions containing bacitracin in patients with previous systemic exposure to this antibiotic.

A Ti-diffused lithium niobate, traveling wave modulator has been fabricated and tested at microwave frequencies. A Mach–Zehnder interferometer optical configuration and a coplanar waveguide electrical transmission line are used. For a 4-mm interaction length, the modulator has a 3-dB bandwidth of 13 GHz and requires only 2 V to switch at λ=840 nm. 3-Methylcrotonylglycinuria is an inborn error of leucine catabolism with an autosomal recessive pattern of inheritance that results from a deficiency of 3-methylcrotonyl-CoA carboxylase (MCC). We report on a nine-year-old boy with severe psychomotor retardation who developed infantile spasms at the age of three weeks. Urine analysis at the age of two years revealed massive 3-methylcrotonylglycinuria and 3-hydroxyisovaleric aciduria suggesting MCC deficiency. Carnitine serum levels were decreased. ...

CRISPR-Cas12a nucleases have expanded the toolbox for targeted genome engineering in a broad range of organisms.
