A field-programmable gate array implementation of a molecular dynamics simulation method reduces the microprocessor time-to-solution by a factor of three while using only high-level languages. The application speedup on FPGA devices increases with the problem size. The authors use a performance model to analyze the potential of simulating large-scale biological systems faster than many cluster-based supercomputing platforms

The transport of atoms is experimentally studied in a transistor-like triple-well potential consisting of a narrow gate well surrounded by source and drain wells. Atoms are initially loaded into the source well with pre-determined temperature and chemical potential. Energetic atoms flow from the source, across the gate, and into the drain where they are removed using a resonant light beam. The manifestation of atom–atom interactions and dissipation is evidenced by a rapid population growth in the ...

A semiclassical formalism is used to investigate the transistor-like behavior of ultracold atoms in a triple-well potential. Atom current flows from the source well, held at fixed chemical potential and temperature, into an empty drain well. In steady-state, the gate well located between the source and drain is shown to acquire a well-defined chemical potential and temperature, which are controlled by the relative height of the barriers separating the three wells. It is shown that the gate chemical ...

Abstract The activity of purified Fe 3+ containing horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was recorded while the enzyme was exposed to two low frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMFs) with different frequencies: 50 Hz/2.7 mT and 100 Hz/5.5 mT. No statistically significant difference in the Michaelis constant ( K m ) values between the control enzyme and the enzyme exposed to any of the two ELF-EMF used could be detected (53 ± 11 μM vs 67 ± 10 μM vs 42 ± 11 μM respectively), indicating that upon short exposure ...

The general approach for emulating quantum algorithms on classical platforms has been through representing them as gate-based quantum circuits. However, direct implementation of quantum circuits significantly increases the hardware resource utilization and system latency of classical emulators. In this paper, we investigate multiple implementation models alternative to conventional emulation approaches, as feasible solutions to the scalability problem in classical emulation of quantum circuits. ...

The authors report a striking advance in measuring tiny magnetic fields under ambient conditions, using atom--light-interaction techniques enabled by cutting-edge technology. A prototype sensor detects the magnetic fields generated by the human brain or heart, in a field-deployable system that works with great sensitivity, unshielded in Earth's own magnetic field. This technology is scalable to arrays and can be made low-cost, which opens pathways to a wide variety of applications, such as field ...

A high-resolution projection and imaging system for ultracold atoms is implemented using a compound silicon and glass atom chip. The atom chip is metalized to enable magnetic trapping while glass regions enable high numerical aperture optical access to atoms residing in the magnetic trap about 100 microns below the chip surface. The atom chip serves as a wall of the vacuum system, which enables the use of commercial microscope components for projection and imaging. Holographically generated light ...

The influence of vibronic interactions on the chiroptical spectra associated with nearly degenerate E (doubly degenerate) and A (non-degenerate) electronic states in dissymmetric trigonal systems is examined on a formal theoretical model. The model considers both Jahn-Teller (JT) interactions within the E state and pseudo Jahn-Teller (PJT) interactions between the E and A states originating with (A + E) coupling to a single doubly degenerate vibrational mode (e). Formal expressions are developed for the ...

Abstract The influence of vibronic interactions on the chiroptical spectra associated with pairs of nearly degenerate electronic transitions in chiral systems is examined on a formal theoretical model. We consider the special case in which two nearly degenerate electronic states are coupled by a single non-totally symmetric vibrational mode. Formal expressions are developed for the rotatory strengths of individual vibronic transitions in this coupled system. Calculations based on these expressions ...

Operation of an atomtronic battery is demonstrated where a finite-temperature Bose-Einstein condensate stored in one half of a double-well potential is coupled to an initially empty load well that is impedance matched by a resonant terminator beam. The atom number and temperature of the condensate are monitored during the discharge cycle, and are used to calculate fundamental properties of the battery. The discharge behavior is analyzed according to a Th\'{e}venin equivalent circuit that contains ...

Reconfigurable computers can leverage the synergism between conventional processors and FPGAs to provide both hardware functionalities and general-purpose computers flexibility. In a large class of applications on these platforms, the data-transfer overheads can be comparable or even greater than the useful computations which can degrade the overall performance. In this paper, we perform a theoretical and experimental study of this specific limitation. The mathematical formulation of the problem ...

Abstract Choral singing has always been an activity in which the participant, the choir singers sang together, achieved the same goals, lived and perceived music together. In the music education lesson, the choral-vocal singing is an activity with great teaching and educational possibilities. It is one of the most accessible ways of interpreting music in school. This article methodologically investigates the completeness of the music education lesson with the dominant activity of vocal-choral singing.

The influence of spin—orbit and vibronic interactions upon the chiroptical properties of nearly degenerate dd transitions in metal complexes of pseudo-tetragonal symmetry is investigated. A model system is considered in which three nearly degenerate dd excited states are coupled via both spinorbit and vibronic interactions. Vibronic interactions among the three nearly degenerate dd electronic states are assumed to arise from a pseudo-Jahn—Teller (PJT) mechanism involving three different vibrational ...

IntroductionIn the new orientations of education the problem of student-teacher interaction is a fundamental one. In this context it is obviouslynecessary to transform the education in a student-centered educational system that focuses on the level of development of the student's potential by applying modem technologies. Now that the education system faces methodological problems, the new human values should be exploited using the technological dimension of and education. In the educational science ...

In this regard, musical didactic activities are not only pedagogical acts of transmission of musical knowledge, but their mission is the living of sound messages, the discovery of self through art and student integration through musical didactic activities. Integrating through musical didactic activities, ...

Abstract The integrality of musical-didactical activities at the lesson as a systematical aproach of the musical education process is the problem that we search for. In this way, dramaturgy at the lesson is searched as one of the principles of this integrity. The words “project”, “diagram”, “scenario”, “libretto” of the lesson are described in this study through two aspects: emotional dramaturgy and reasonable dramaturgy. These are the most important purpose of the personal attitude and activity. Through ...
