Stereolithographic models are commonly used to adapt reconstructive plates in patients who will undergo mandibular resection. However, the published reports have not explained exactly how to accurately transport this plate to the patient. The purpose of our report is to illustrate a new transference technique of mandibular reconstructing plates from the stereolithographic model to the patient, without the need for testing it before tumor resection. This technique involves coating the stereolithographic ...

The CMS computing model defines how the data is to be distributed and accessed to enable physicists to efficiently run their analyses over the data. The analysis will be performed in a distributed way using Grid infrastructure. CRAB (CMS remote analysis builder) is a specific tool, designed and developed by ...

In September 1987, the Goiania radiological accident involving a source of 137Cs culminated in about 140 victims who presented internal and/or external contamination and/or external exposure to radiation and/or radiation burns. Internal contamination was verified through analysis of urine and fecal samples. Internal contamination was also evaluated by measurements performed at the whole-body counter installed in Goiania in November 1987. To enhance the decorporation of 137Cs, patients were treated ...

Physical activity has been shown to be a beneficial stimulus to the central and peripheral nervous systems. The S100B is a cytokine physiologically produced and released predominantly by astrocytes on the central nervous system (CNS). In order to study the possible influence of a nonimpact exercise on S100B serum levels, we measured this protein serum level after a 7,600-meter swimming race. We observed an increase in S100B levels in athletes post-race compared with their baseline values, pointing ...

Non-palpable breast tumors represent an increasing management problem in modern Breast Units. Therefore, a simple and accurate procedure to localize these lesions is needed. To date, the most commonly used technique is wire localization, but there are some disadvantages. We conducted a prospective study on patients with malignant or benign non-palpable breast tumors who were surgically treated and underwent intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) from May 2006 to June 2007. Summary A case of congenital duplication (monocephalus dipygus) in a goat is described. Two pelvis and four pelvic limbs were observed in the kid. Conjoined or fused symmetric twins were diagnosed. Associated abnormalities were cleft palate and anal atresia. Most of the classically recognized teratogens were ruled out by history and serology. However, progenitors were related in the second degree. Thus, genetic factors could be suspected in this case. To the authors’ best knowledge, this is the first ...

PCa is the second most common cancer in men worldwide and it is universally acknowledged as a complex disease, with a multi-factorial etiology. Microgrids (MGs) are an interesting solution to locally manage distributed generation, but they are not usually designed to provide significant contribution in terms of external ancillary services to the main grid. In this brief, we propose a framework for the aggregation, coordination, and day-ahead scheduling of interconnected MGs to provide external services, such as the power-reserve provision. The framework is structured in three phases. In the first one, a distributed optimization algorithm ...
