Este trabalho apresenta um índice para a avaliação do desempenho da proteção dos sistemas aéreos de distribuição em relação à coordenação e seletividade. Por meio deste, são apresentados alguns dos principais critérios adotados nos estudos de proteção para religadores e elos fusíveis. A metodologia para a aplicação do índice é demonstrada e o mesmo é utilizado em um sistema teste para mostrar o seu funcionamento e utilidade.
