O uso de inibidores de fosfodiesterase, mais especificamente o sildenafil, no tratamento da hipertensão arterial pulmonar mostrou bons resultados, indicados por melhora dos parâmetros hemodinâmicos e da capacidade funcional. Poucos estudos existem a respeito dos efeitos de seus análogos como o tadalafil. O presente caso refere-se a uma paciente com hipertensão arterial pulmonar idiopática em classe funcional IV (NYHA) com resposta significativa ao uso de tadalafil.

We describe 10 children with endomyocardial fibrosis who underwent surgical treatment between 1978 and 1999. Seven were male and 3 female, with an age range from 4 to 15 years, having a mean age of 11 years. All were in the final stage of heart failure. Three had biventricular disease, 6 had involvement of the right ventricle alone, and one had endomyocardial fibrosis confined to the left ventricle. We describe an asymptomatic 1-year-old boy who presented a continuous murmur, and was found to have a tunnel between the right atrium and the aorta. The definitive diagnosis was established by both echocardiography and aortography, and surgical interruption of the tunnel was successful. We emphasise the rarity of this condition, and discuss its major features.

In this paper, a method for preventive maintenance scheduling optimization of standby systems, based on genetic algorithm and probabilistic safety analysis, is described. To identify life expectancy after surgery for endomyocardial fibrosis (EMF) and the events that influence it.Eighty-three patients with EMF underwent endocardial decortication and atrioventricular valve replacement or repair, between December 1977 and December 1997. Abstract Reported here is an obstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract caused by a tuberculoma in a 15-year-old boy who presented with a ventricular septal defect. The obstruction was discovered at surgery and the tuberculous aetiology was only demonstrated histologically. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of a tuberculoma of the heart associated with congenital heart disease.

The present article describes the management of three neonates with tricuspid atresia and duct dependent pulmonary circulation referred to the Instituto de Coração de Pernambuco in November 1992. A brief literature review of the condition is added.
