It has been estimated that individuals with COVID-19 can shed replication-competent virus up to a maximum of 20 days after initiation of symptoms. The majority of studies that addressed this situation involved hospitalized individuals and those with severe disease. Studies to address the possible presence of SARS-CoV-2 during the different phases of COVID-19 disease in mildly infected individuals, and utilization of viral culture techniques to identify replication-competent viruses, have been limited. ...

This in situ study aimed to assess the remineralizing effect of a fluoride toothpaste supplemented with β-calcium glycerophosphate in both micro (β-CaGPm) and nano-sized forms (β-CaGPn).This blind and cross-over study was performed in 4 phases, each spanning 3 days. Twelve volunteers utilized palatal appliances containing four bovine enamel blocks with artificial caries lesions. Volunteers were randomly assigned to the following treatment groups: Placebo (no F-β-CaGPm-β-CaGPn); 1100 ppm F alone (1100F); ...

We aimed assess the soil fertility and nutritional status of pear orange plants in different orchards in the State of the Amazonas. The most soils showed: i) acidic pH and with high levels of Al; ii) low content of organic matter and base saturation; iii) low levels of P; K, Ca, Mn, Zn and B. The plants were deficient in Ca (86%), K (62%), S (52%), Mn (100%), Zn (86%), B (80%) and with excess of N (81%) and P (51%).We conclude that there is an urgent need to adjust the soil fertility in orange orchards aims ...

Abstract Human enteroviruses (EV) are the most common cause of aseptic meningitis worldwide. Data on EV viral load in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and related epidemiological studies are scarce in Brazil. This study investigated the influence of EV viral load on CSF parameters, as well as identifying the involved species. CSF samples were collected in 2018–2019 from 140 individuals at The Hospital das Clínicas, São Paulo. The EV viral load was determined using real‐time quantitative polymerase chain ...

Let P = ({1, 2, ..., n}, ≤) be a poset that is an union of disjoint chains of the same length and V = F^N_q be the space of N-tuples over the finite field Fq. Let Vi = F^{k_i}_q , with 1 ≤ i ≤ n, be a family of finite-dimensional linear spaces such that k_1 + k_2 + ... + k_n = N and let V = V_1×V_2×...×V_n endow with the poset block metric d_(P,π) induced by the poset P and the partition π = (k_1, k_2, ..., k_n), encompassing both Niederreiter-Rosenbloom-Tsfasman metric and error-block metric. In this paper, we give a complete description of ...
