The geometries and vibrational properties of the low-lying electronic states of neutral and anionic of M3 (M = P, As, Sb, and Bi) are studied using the coupled-cluster singles, doubles, and noniterative triples (CCSD(T)) method as well as the density functional theory (B3LYP-DFT) method. For P3-, the and states are almost degenerate. The state, however, turns out to be the lowest state for As3-, Sb3-, and Bi3-, and the adiabatic excitation energies of the state are 0.6, 0.9, and 1.0 eV, respectively. ...

Abstract Under ER stress conditions, the ER form of transmembrane proteins can reach the plasma membrane via a Golgi‐independent unconventional protein secretion (UPS) pathway. However, the targeting mechanisms of membrane proteins for UPS are unknown. Here, this study reports that TMED proteins play a critical role in the ER stress‐associated UPS of transmembrane proteins. The gene silencing results reveal that TMED2, TMED3, TMED9 and TMED10 are involved in the UPS of transmembrane proteins, such ...

Replacement and inflammatory resorption are serious complications associated with the delayed replantation of avulsed teeth. In this study, we aimed to assess whether deferoxamine (DFO) can suppress inflammation and osteoclastogenesis in vitro and attenuate inflammation and bone resorption in a replanted rat tooth model. Cell viability and inflammation were evaluated in RAW264.7 cells. Osteoclastogenesis was confirmed by tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase staining, reactive oxygen species (ROS) measurement, ...

Regenerating the periodontal ligament (PDL) is a crucial factor for periodontal tissue regeneration in the presence of traumatized and periodontally damaged teeth. Various methods have been applied for periodontal regeneration, including tissue substitutes, bioactive materials, and synthetic scaffolds. However, all of these treatments have had limited success in structural and functional periodontal tissue regeneration. To achieve the goal of complete periodontal regeneration, many studies have evaluated ...

Conventional root canal treatment may result in loss of tooth vitality, which can lead to unfavorable treatment outcomes. Notably, a ceased tooth development of immature permanent teeth with open apices, regeneration of periodontal ligaments (PDL), and pulp is highly expected healing process. For regeneration, the scaffold is one of the critical components that carry biological benefits. Therefore, this study evaluated a decellularized human tooth as a scaffold for the PDL and pulp tissue regeneration. ...

DP tissues were collected from 25 permanent premolars. UC tissue samples were obtained from three newborns. Comparative gene profiles were obtained using cDNA microarray analysis and the expression of tooth development‐associated and MSC‐related genes was assessed by the quantitative real‐time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT‐PCR). ...

The aim of this study was to compare the biocompatibility of Endocem Zr® and ProRoot MTA® by histopathologic analysis in a canine model of pulpotomy. This study utilized 39 teeth of two beagle dogs. The exposed pulp tissues were treated by pulpotomy using ProRoot MTA (n=19) or Endocem Zr (n=20). After 8 weeks, the teeth were extracted and processed with hematoxylin-eosin staining for histologic evaluation. Most of the specimens in both groups developed a calcific barrier at the pulp amputation site ...

Recently, antibody fragments have been studied as therapeutic agents because they lack Fc effector function while having affinity similar to their original monoclonal antibody and can be produced using E. coli. Antibody fragments can be purified using affinity chromatography in the capture step, although they need a polishing step because of product-related impurities, mainly charge variants. Unlike monoclonal antibodies, few studies exist regarding the separation of charge variants in antibody ...

The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap is one of the most useful flaps in reconstruction because of its reliability, large skin flap territory, and versatility. The relatively small number of side effects is a common reason for preferring this flap. Primary repair is usually performed at the donor site closure; however, this requires substantial tension and causes many donor site morbidities, including pain. We attempted to use acellular dermal matrix graft to overcome these problems. We analyzed a total ...

Inflammatory responses are strictly regulated by coordination of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mediators. Interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) have typically the biologic anti-inflammatory effects on monocytes, but uncertain effects on polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs). The PMNs are the first line of cellular response for host defense during acute inflammation. To modify hyper-inflammatory reaction with biologic anti-inflammatory mediators, we have determined the biologic anti- ...

Necrotizing fasciitis is an infection of the subcutaneous tissue that results in destruction of the fascia and is disproportionately common in patients with chronic liver disease or diabetes. Necrotizing fasciitis of the head and neck is rare, but has a high fatality rate. A 50-year-old man with a past medical history of diabetes reported a chief complaint of a wound in the posterior neck due to trauma. The wound had grown and was accompanied by pus and redness, and the patient had a fever. When ...

We studied the in- and the out-coupling efficiencies of photons with a thin InGaAs slab covered by periodic gold nano-slit arrays, by measuring transmission and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. While the maximum in-coupled photons into the InGaAs slab waveguide were found at dip positions in transmission spectra, the mostly out-coupled photons were observed as peaks in PL spectra. For different periods of slit arrays and incident angles we discussed spectral positions of transmission dips and efficiency ...
