Objective A systematic review of clinical trials on thermal ablation of T1b RCC was conducted to assess oncologic outcomes of those procedures. The primary endpoint was the rate of local recurrence. Secondary endpoints included technical efficacy, progression to metastatic disease, cancer-specific mortality, complications and renal function decrease. Methods PubMed (MEDLINE) and Embase databases were searched in June 2020 for eligible trials following the PRISMA selection process. Prevalence of local ...

Several expression array studies identified molecular apocrine breast cancer (BC) as a subtype that expresses androgen receptor (AR) but not estrogen receptor α. We carried out a multicentre single-arm phase II trial in women with AR-positive, estrogen, progesterone receptor and HER2-negative (triple-negative) metastatic or inoperable locally advanced BC to assess the efficacy and safety of abiraterone acetate (AA) plus prednisone.Patients with a metastatic or locally advanced, centrally reviewed, triple- ...

Differentiating benign from malignant renal tumors is important for patient management, and it may be improved by quantitative CT features analysis including radiomic. This study aimed to compare performances of machine learning models using bio-clinical, conventional radiologic and 3D-radiomic features for the differentiation of benign and malignant solid renal tumors using pre-operative multiphasic contrast-enhanced CT examinations.A unicentric retrospective analysis of prospectively acquired data ...

The purpose of this study was to identify anatomical findings at magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) associated with successful percutaneous embolization in women with pelvic venous insufficiency (PVI). Between 2008 and 2018, 168 consecutive women (mean age, 39 ± 9 [SD] years; range: 21–69 years) who underwent percutaneous embolization for PVI confirmed by MRI and phlebography were included. Clinical efficacy of embolization was evaluated by patients' opinion or visual analogue scale. Associated factors ...

This study aimed to identify and compare major areas of met and unmet needs reported by 455 homeless or recently housed individuals recruited from emergency shelters, temporary housing, and permanent housing in Quebec (Canada). Mixed methods, guided by the Maslow framework, were used. Basic needs were the strongest needs category identified, followed by health and social services (an emergent category), and safety; very few participants expressed needs in the higher-order categories of love and belonging, ...

A recent genome-wide association meta-analysis for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) identified 19 risk loci (in addition to APOE) in which the functional genes are unknown. Using Drosophila, we screened 296 constructs targeting orthologs of 54 candidate risk genes within these loci for their ability to modify Tau neurotoxicity by quantifying the size of >6000 eyes. Besides Drosophila Amph (ortholog of BIN1), which we previously implicated in Tau pathology, we identified p130CAS (CASS4), Eph (EPHA1), Fak (PTK2B) ...

Partial nephrectomy (PN) is the gold standard treatment for cT1b renal tumors. Percutaneous guided thermal ablation (TA) has proven oncologic efficacy with low morbidity for the treatment of small renal masses (<3 cm). Recently, 3D image-guided robot-assisted PN (3D-IGRAPN) has been described, and decreased perioperative morbidity compared to standard RAPN has been reported. Our objective was to compare two minimally invasive image-guided nephron-sparing procedures (TA vs. 3D-IGRAPN) for the treatment ...

The present study is focused on alternative oxygen electrodes for IT-SOFCs using Metal Supported Cells (MSCs) conditions. Ln 2 NiO 4+δ (Ln = La, Pr) compounds with the K 2 NiF 4 -type structure act as cathode materials for IT-SOFC due to their MIEC properties. Pr 2 NiO 4+δ (PNO) shows excellent electrochemical properties at intermediate temperature while La 2 NiO 4+δ (LNO) exhibits higher chemical stability. Thus, the properties of La 2 - x Pr x NiO 4+δ (LPNO) mixed nickelates were investigated with the aim ...

Material and Methods: This retrospective study incorporated 48 tumors, 28 of which were ccRCCs and 20 were oncocytomas. All tumors were less than 4 cm in size and had undergone pre-biopsy or pre-surgery MRI. Following image pre-processing, 102 radiomics features were evaluated. ...

We have studied the effect of doping (up to 3%) with Ni, Zn and Si on the ESR spectra of CuGeO3. Our experiments were performed on single crystals at 9.5, 95 and 190 GHz, above and below the spin–Peierls transition. In contrast to Zn or Si-doping, which hardly affects the position of the resonance, the presence of Ni induces a large shift towards high fields of the ESR line. This shift is shown to be proportional to the ratio of Ni to Cu susceptibility: Hence it is strongly enhanced below the spin– ...

AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) regulates the balance between cellular anabolism and catabolism dependent on energy resources to maintain proliferation and survival. Small-compound AMPK activators show anti-cancer activity in preclinical models.
