Abstract Downy mildews are obligate biotrophic oomycete pathogens that cause devastating plant diseases on economically important crops. Plasmopara viticola is the causal agent of grapevine downy mildew, a major disease in vineyards worldwide. We sequenced the genome of Pl. viticola with PacBio long reads and obtained a new 92.94 Mb assembly with high contiguity (359 scaffolds for a N50 of 706.5 kb) due to a better resolution of repeat regions. This assembly presented a high level of gene completeness, ...

SUMMARY The author analyses two documents on the UN language services, produced by the Joint Inspection Unit, a group of specialists whose task consists in studying the working of the UN system with a view to introducing improvements of an administrative and organizational character. Never before had a study been published with such a wealth of information on the linguistic functioning of the UN network of agencies. Although, according to its title, the first report should deal mainly with the use ...

Mitochondrial disorders are clinically and genetically heterogeneous, with variants in mitochondrial or nuclear genes leading to varied clinical phenotypes. TAMM41 encodes a mitochondrial protein with cytidine diphosphate-diacylglycerol synthase activity: an essential early step in the biosynthesis of phosphatidylglycerol and cardiolipin. Cardiolipin is a mitochondria-specific phospholipid that is important for many mitochondrial processes. We report three unrelated individuals with mitochondrial ...

Pneumonia is a dreaded complication of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infection in adults; however, the data are limited. Our objective was to investigate the clinical features, management, and outcomes of critically ill patients with VZV-related community-acquired pneumonia (VZV-CAP). This was an observational study of patients with VZV-CAP admitted to 29 intensive care units (ICUs) from January 1996 to January 2015. One hundred and two patients with VZV-CAP were included. Patients were young (age 39 ...

Deterministic evolutions are defined without ad hoc hypotheses but in the context of the axiomatic approach due to Aerts and Piron. For systems described by a family of Hilbert spaces one can prove necessary conditions on the resulting flow using the tools of projective geometry. In particular we show that a deterministic evolution is always given by a family of partially defined unitary operators

Abstract Background Necrotizing external otitis (NEO) is a severe infection of the skull base that occurs generally in the elderly and/or in diabetic recipients. There are few data in the literature about the therapeutic management of this complex bone infection. Objectives To analyse relapses after NEO treatment completion, and to describe the clinical features of NEO. Methods We performed a retrospective cohort study in the Lyon regional reference centre for the management of complex bone and joint ...

In the introductions to these materials, Hannoosh describes how she tracked down the textual fragments which she used to reconstitute some of Delacroix’s notes and notebooks. Notable among these is the “Cahier autobiographique,” which covers about seven years beginning in 1853 and which is from the Piron collection, and Delacroix’s “Cahier de lectures” for ...

In magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), an object within a field-of-view (FOV) is spatially encoded with a broad spectrum of frequency components generating signals that decohere with one another to create a decaying echo with a large peak amplitude. The echo is short and decays at a rapid rate relative to the readout period when performing high resolution imaging of a sizable object where many frequency components are encoded resulting in faster decoherence of the generated signals. This makes it more ...
