Abstract We report an efficient and scalable synthesis of azidotrifluoromethane (CF 3 N 3 ) and longer perfluorocarbon‐chain analogues (R F N 3 ; R F =C 2 F 5 , n C 3 F 7 , n C 8 F 17 ), which enables the direct insertion of CF 3 and perfluoroalkyl groups into triazole ring systems. The azidoperfluoroalkanes show good reactivity with terminal alkynes in copper(I)‐catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), giving access to rare and stable N ‐perfluoroalkyl triazoles. Azidoperfluoroalkanes are thermally stable ...

There were synthesized new types of ribbon type steroidal dimers derived from three types of steroidal skeletons (cholic acid, etienic acid, estrone) using CuI catalyzed 1, 3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. Steroid parts of the molecular "ribbons" are linked by heterocyclic moiety, namely by 2,6-bis((1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)-methyl)pyridine. Compounds synthesized possess different cytotoxic and hormone receptor modulating activities.

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Cryo-TEM were used to study the growth kinetics of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) granules produced by in vitro polymerization. The in vitro formation of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) uses a recombinant form of the PHA synthase to polymerize [R]-(–)-3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA. Since the in vitro reaction contains only synthase and monomer, it is a simpler system than the in vivo biosynthesis of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate). TEM and Cryo-TEM were used in conjunction with image analysis ...

Abstract Deschloroketamine (2‐(methylamino)‐2‐phenyl‐cyclohexanone) is a ketamine analog belonging to a group of dissociative anesthetics, which have been distributed within the illicit market since 2015. However, it was also being sold as ‘ketamine' misleading people to believe that they were getting genuine ketamine. Dissociative anesthetics have also come to the attention of the psychiatric field due to their potential properties in the treatment of depression. At present, there is a dearth of ...

Methoxphenidine (MXP) is new psychoactive substance belonging to the group of dissociative anesthetics. It appeared on the black market in 2013, and MXP intoxications have been reported with at least three deaths since then. To understanding the mechanism of toxicity and effects of MXP, it is important to know its pharmacological properties (e.g. toxicity, activity on receptors and ADME) and metabolism which may be further exploited to study its mechanism of action in vivo. Metabolism of such compound ...

Microtubule dynamics is one of the major targets for new chemotherapeutic agents. This communication presents the synthesis and biological profiling of steroidal dimers based on estradiol, testosterone and pregnenolone bridged by 2,6-bis(azidomethyl)pyridine between D rings. The biological profiling revealed unique properties of the estradiol dimer including cytotoxic activities on a panel of 11 human cell lines, ability to arrest in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle accompanied with the attenuation ...

Abstract In this study, we provide a comprehensive clinical and molecular biological characterization of radiation-induced gliomas (RIG), including a risk assessment for developing gliomas. A cohort of 12 patients who developed RIG 9.5 years (3–31 years) after previous cranial radiotherapy for brain tumors or T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia was established. The derived risk of RIG development based on our consecutive cohort of 371 irradiated patients was 1.6% at 10 years and 3.02% at 15 years. ...

Betulinic acid (BA) is a potent triterpene, which has shown promising potential in cancer and HIV-1 treatment. Here, we report a synthesis and biological evaluation of 17 new compounds, including BODIPY labelled analogues derived from BA. The analogues terminated by amino moiety showed increased cytotoxicity (e.g., BA had on CCRF-CEM IC50 > 50 μM, amine 3 IC50 0.21 and amine 14 IC50 0.29). The cell-cycle arrest was evaluated and did not show general features for all the tested compounds. A fluorescence ...
