Acute inversion of the uterus is a rare complication during cesarean section. We describe one such case in which diagnosis was made immediately and reversion was performed within few minutes. A high index of suspicion and prompt management can prevent further complications.

Better preventive strategies are required to reduce ultraviolet (UV)-caused photodamage, the primary etiological factor for non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC). Accordingly, here we examined the preventive efficacy of silibinin against UVB-induced photodamage using mouse epidermal JB6 cells and SKH1 hairless mouse epidermis. In JB6 cells, silibinin pretreatment protected against apoptosis and accelerated the repair of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPD) induced by moderate dose of UVB (50 mJ/cm 2 ), which ...

Traditional techniques for estimation of flood using historical rainfall–runoff data are restricted in application for small basins due to poor stream gauging network. To overcome such difficulties, various techniques including those involving the morphologic details of the ungauged basin have been evolved. The geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydrograph method belongs to the latter approach. In this study, a gamma geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydrograph (GGIUH) model (based on geomorphologic ...

Non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC) are a growing problem given that solar ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation exposure is increasing most likely due to depletion of the atmospheric ozone layer and lack of adequate sun protection. Better preventive methods are urgently required to reduce UV-caused photodamage and NMSC incidence. Earlier, we have reported that silibinin treatment activates p53 and reduces photodamage and NMSC, both in vitro and in vivo; but whether silibinin exerts its protective effects primarily ...

Abstract Large debris transported by flood affects scour features at bridge piers and increases the risks of structural failure. Geometric characteristics of the debris and the relative position of the pier with respect to the river bank are important parameters for the scour process. The interaction between the water flow and debris accumulation increases the shear stress, turbulence and consequently enhances the scour depth at the pier. This paper aims at analyzing such effects on scour evolution ...

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), as aerial base stations, is a promising solution for providing end-to-end wireless communications to ground users, thanks to its positioning, flexibility, and autonomy. However, to provide end-to-end wireless communication services, all UAVs must ensure a reliable multi-UAV network topology, even when one or more UAVs are knocked off the network due to hardware/software faults, unreliable wireless connections, etc. Hence, how to design a reliable Multi-UAV network ...

Eco-friendly low-head river restoration structures such as block ramps are of paramount importance with regard to the control of sediment grade in rivers, particularly in the mountains. They also help in the stabilization of river bed and prevent damages due to excessive downstream erosion by dissipating flow energy. Although the hydraulic characteristics of block ramps in straight channels have been thoroughly studied, there are very less studies dealing with the analysis of scour mechanism downstream ...

A case of combined genital prolapse and rectal prolapse in a 55-year-old multipara is reported. The mixed prolapse was treated by vaginal hysterectomy with pelvic floor repair and laparoscopic rectopexy at the same sitting. The feasibility of combined treatment of genital prolapse by the vaginal route and of rectal prolapse by laparoscopic rectopexy is emphasized.

Progress and potentialTwo-dimensional (2D) InSe has attracted attention for next-generation electronic devices due to its atomically thin structure with a low effective mass and high thermal velocity among known 2D semiconductors. However, scalable synthesis of high-quality InSe with high phase purity remains unachieved. This study introduces a pulsed-precursor, metal-organic chemical vapor deposition technique for the epitaxial synthesis of InSe on c-plane sapphire. Pulsing precursors during the ...
