One of the requirements for a federated information system is interoperability, the ability of one computer system to access and use the resources of another system. This feature is particularly important in biomedical research systems, which need to coordinate a variety of disparate types of data. A bstract Synchronous radiation‐induced tumours are extremely rare. We present the first reported case of synchronous radiation‐induced orbital meningioma and cavernomas of the cerebellum and bilateral basal ganglia, presenting 16 years after ionizing radiation therapy for parietal anaplastic ependymoma, at the age of five. This case again underscores the risks of radiotherapy to children.

Background and objectives The dietary self-management of CKD is challenging. Telehealth interventions may provide an effective delivery method to facilitate sustained dietary change. Design, setting, participants, & measurements This pilot, randomized, controlled trial evaluated secondary and exploratory outcomes after a dietitian-led telehealth coaching intervention to improve diet quality in people with stage 3–4 CKD. The intervention group received phone calls every 2 weeks for 3 months (with concurrent, ...

Ocular mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP) is known to be rapidly progressive in younger patients and affects both eyes. We are aware of only one other reported case of unilateral ocular MMP. The case presented in this study is unique in that it demonstrates genuinely unilateral ocular MMP in a younger patient. We report a case of a 50-year-old man who presented with a 3-month history of left eye redness, irritation, and mild discharge. He also suffered from mouth ulcers, skin lesions, and recurrent ...

Our previous publication showed that 9% of patients with a history of myocardial infarction MI. could be labeled as aspirin resistant; all of these patients were aspirin resistant because of non-compliance. This report compares the relative frequency of aspirin resistance between known compliant and non-compliance subjects to demonstrate that non-compliance is the predominant cause of aspirin resistance. The difference in the slopes of the platelet prostaglandin agonist (PPA) light aggregation curves ...

The hypothesis that aspirin resistance is often due to noncompliance was investigated. One hundred ninety patients with a history of myocardial infarction were evaluated using arachidonic acid–stimulated light aggregometry at 3 different time points: while receiving their usual daily aspirin, after not receiving aspirin for 7 days, and 2 hours after the observed ingestion of aspirin 325 mg. At the first time point, 17 patients (9%) failed to show aspirin inhibition of platelet aggregation, but 2 ...
