The frequency and temperature dependence of the ac susceptibility between 1.8 and 350 K in a CrO2 DCC magnetic tape has been measured. The in-phase (χ′) component of the susceptibility has a logarithmic frequency dependence which can be associated with the presence of magnetic particles which block below room temperature. The out-of-phase component (χ″) and dχ′/d(ln(ω) decrease below 3 K indicating that the magnetic moment of these particles rotates by thermal activation.

In this paper we report on the temperature dependence of the time decay of the magnetization in CrO2 DCC magnetic tapes. We have followed the change in the magnetization between 100 and 4000 s after applying an inverse field from the saturation for various temperatures from 1.8 to 300 K. As the temperature is reduced below several degree kelvin, we have observed a non-thermal relaxation compatible with the occurence of the quantum magnetic relaxation.
