Quantitative studies were made upon the rays of three species of Compositæ, viz. Arnica unalaschensis in Mt. The results obtained may be briefly summarized as follows { i } The color reaction upon cod-liver oils was studied with fifty-nine samples of clays, twenty--five being samples of Japanese acid clays, six of Florida earth, and one of fuller's earth.All of the three descriptions of clays above mentioned were found to give a beautiful bluish-green sediments on contact with cod-liver oils just as is the case with a drop of cc ic.
