Tungsten and molybdenum thin film oxides were obtained by heating the corresponding metallic filament at high temperature in a low pressure oxygen atmosphere. Optoelectrochemical measurements showed that both kinds of films are electrochromic under + ion intercalation, with the tungsten oxide film presenting the best electrochromic performance.
