Severely ill COVID-19 patients may end in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and multi-organ failure. Abstract Multiple myeloma (MM) remains incurable, and new drugs with novel mechanisms of action are still needed. In this report, we have analyzed the action of Zalypsis, an alkaloid analogous to certain natural marine compounds, in MM. Zalypsis turned out to be the most potent antimyeloma agent we have tested so far, with IC50 values from picomolar to low nanomolar ranges. The adsorption of citrate anions on Pt{h k l} single crystal electrodes and Pt nanoparticles was investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV). Citrate is found to behave as a simple, specifically adsorbing anion, stronger in its surface interaction with platinum than either (bi-) sulphate or OH but displaying no tendency to decompose at 293 K into molecular fragments such as chemisorbed carbon monoxide. Hydrothermally promoted assembly of the multifunctional 3,5-disulfobenzoic acid (3,5-DSB) ligand with the lanthanide series and the 1,10-phenanthroline as a secondary ligand gives rise to the formation of 2D coordination polymers. A metal-organic framework (MOF) bearing the aqua-hydroxo species (O2H3)(-) in the framework, as well as the processes that govern the equilibrium aqua-hydroxo (O2H3)(-)↔hydroxyl (OH) in Sc-MOFs, are studied experimentally and theoretically. Computational studies were employed to determine the relative energies for the two compounds that coexist under certain hydrothermal conditions at pH < 2.8.
