First-order many-body theory has been used to calculate the differential and integral cross sections for electron-impact excitation of the argon atom to the $4^{3}P_{0}$, $4^{3}P_{2}$, $4^{3}P_{1}$, and $4^{1}P_{1}$ electronic states, for incident electron energies of 16, 20, 30, 50, and 80.4 eV. The major determinants of blood-lead levels were studied in 90 children who attended an outpatient pediatric clinic in Mexico City. All children, who were from 1-10 y of age, were from homes for which socioeconomic status had been categorized as medium to high. The perovskite type oxide LaNiO3 was used as starting material for the CO2 reforming of methane. The reaction was studied by a pulse technique using a CH4/CO2 ratio close to one, in order to understand the catalyst behavior. LaNiO3 was reduced prior to the reaction by temperature programmed reduction (TPR) under hydrogen. The catalyst was thus composed of La2O3 and Ni0. The relation between air pollution and the exacerbation of childhood asthma was studied in a panel of 71 children (aged 5 to 7 yr) with mild asthma who resided in the northern part of mexico City. During the follow-up, ambient measures of particulate matter less than 10 microns (PM10, 24-h average) and ozone (1-h maximum) frequently exceeded the Mexican standards for these contaminants.
