This paper studies the behavior of a Euro 6 diesel engine tested under dynamic conditions corresponding to different real driving emissions (RDE) scenarios. RDE cycles have been performed in an engine test bench by simulating its operation in a long van application. A computer tool has been designed to define the cycle accounting for different dynamic characteristics and driver behaviors to study their influence on CO2 and pollutant emissions, particularly CO, THC, and NOX. Different dynamic parameters ...

The Alcudia Valley is intensely mineralized, with a large number of Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu deposits hosted by Neoproterozoic and Paleozoic sedimentary rocks. Five distinct types of deposits have been recognized. The most significant mineralizing events were related to the two major phases of deformation (HD1, HD2) and granite emplacement during the Hercynian orogeny. Stable isotope and lithogeochemical data demonstrate that the metals, as well as sulfur and carbon, were sourced from the local sedimentary rocks. ...

Arthritis is a set of inflammatory conditions that induce aching, stiffness, swelling, pain and may cause functional disability with severe consequences to the patient's lives. These are multi-mediated pathologies that cannot be effectively protected and/or treated. Therefore, the aim of this study was to establish a new model of acute arthritis, using a Lys49-PLA2 (Bothrops asper myotoxin II; MT-II) to induce articular inflammation. The articular inflammation was induced by MT-II (10 μg/joint) injection ...

The Alcudia Valley mineral field was an important lead ore producer in Spain during the 19th and the 20th centuries. Based on mineralogical, lithological, structural, morphological and geochemical characteristics, five main types of lead and zinc deposits have been defined in the district. The most important of these are Pb–Zn post-tectonic veins (type E), which represent 70% of the total number of mineral occurrences and include the biggest mines of the area. These deposits show a paragenetic zoning ...

Oxygen and carbon isotopes of the hydrothermal minerals in the Colmenar-Santa Barbara skarn suggest that fluids of the main hydrothermal stage (grandite/clinopyroxene and actinolite+magnetite) are of likely magmatic origin. There is only a minor input of modified surficial fluids during the late hydrothermal stages.8 345 values of sulphides indicate that sulphur derives from the hosting volcanosedimentary pile, the likely origin of most of the iron in the skarn. During hydrothermal circulation, magmatic ...

We have investigated the stratigraphy, structure and metamorphism of the boundary between the Ossa Morena Zone (OMZ) and the Central Iberian Zone (CIZ), two significant continental portions of the Variscan Iberian Massif. The OMZ/CIZ contact is marked by a strongly deformed and metamorphosed NW–SE trending narrow band, namely, the Central Unit, in which partially retrogressed eclogites are included. During the Middle-Late Devonian the CIZ overthrust the OMZ, and in the footwall km-scale recumbent ...

The transition between the South Portuguese Zone (SPZ) and the Ossa Morena Zone (OMZ) is made up of a major geosuture, which is indicated by the Beja-Acebuches ophiolite. Several geological data suggest that this suture is the result of an oblique collision, with a northward propagation, between the SPZ and OMZ. From the structural point of view the OMZ is much more complex than the adjacent Central Iberian Zone and the SPZ. The frequently complicated internal structure is the result of superposition ...

The build-up of large magmatic complexes can proceed piecemeal over periods of several million years through sequences of complex processes of magma production, differentiation, assimilation, final crystallization and subsequent metasomatic modification. All these stages can produce or modify minerals used as geochronometers, such as zircon, monazite and titanite. The present study exemplifies such complex relationships, also demonstrating how a systematic approach with comprehensive sampling and ...

Abstract Chlorites from Cambrian basaltic vesicular lavas, characterized by relatively high X c (0.81-0.98), gave temperatures of formation of 285 to 350 ° C (Cathelineau's empirical geothermometer). Both the X c and temperature calculations gave results which were too high for the diagenetic conditions indicated by the interbedded shale mineralogy. The HRTEM and XRD studies indicate the absence of smectite layers in these chlorites; i.e. according to lattice images, the actual value of X c is 1. The ...

The high-temperature metamorphism recorded in the Valuengo and Monesterio areas constitutes a rare occurrence in the Ossa-Morena Zone of Southwest Iberia, where low-grade metamorphism dominates. The metamorphism of the Valuengo area has been previously considered either Cadomian or Variscan in age, whereas that of Monesterio has been interpreted as a Cadomian imprint. However, these areas share important metamorphic and structural features that point towards a common tectonometamorphic evolution. ...

Multi-equilibrium thermobarometry shows that low-grade metapelites (Cubito-Moura schists) from the Ossa–Morena Zone underwent HP–LT metamorphism from 340–370 °C at 1.0–0.9 GPa to 400–450 °C at 0.8–0.7 GPa. These HP–LT equilibriums were reached by parageneses including white K mica, chlorite and chloritoid, which define the earliest schistosity (S1) in these rocks. The main foliation in the schists is a crenulation cleavage (S2), which developed during decompression from 0.8–0.7 to 0.4–0.3 GPa at increasing ...
