Anterior knee pain is a frequent condition after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), but its origin remains uncertain. Studies have suggested that donor site morbidity in autologous bone-patellar tendon-bone reconstructions may contribute to patellofemoral pain, but this does not explain why hamstring tendon reconstructions may also present with anterior pain.To evaluate the prevalence of anterior knee pain after ACLR and its predisposing factors.Case-control study; Level of evidence, ...

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of additive and non-additive genes on the efficiency of nitrogen (N) use and N responsiveness in inbred popcorn lines. The parents, hybrids and reciprocal crosses were evaluated in a 10x10 triple lattice design at two sites and two levels of N availability. To establish different N levels in the two experiments, fertilization was carried out at sowing, according to soil analysis reports. However, for the experiments with ideal nitrogen availability, ...

The selection of viral strains with resistance-associated substitutions at hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5A and NS5B genes is considered one of the limiting factors for achieving sustained virologic response (SVR) to combination of direct-acting antivirals daclatasvir (DCV) and sofosbuvir (SOF). Since 2015, this interferon-free regimen has been available in Brazilian clinical routine for treating mono- and HCV/HIV-coinfected patients chronically infected with genotypes 1 and 3. Elephantgrass has been a notable option as bioenergy plant. However, for its bioenergetic use, the quantification of genetic diversity based on biomass quality traits has not been commonly reported in the literature. The objective of this study was to quantify the genetic diversity among 100 accessions of the Active Elephantgrass Germplasm Bank (BAGCE), by means of morphological (flowering, height, vigor and stalk diameter), agronomic (total dry biomass) and biomass quality traits (dry matter concentration, ...

In agricultural production, nitrogen (N) deficiency reduces yield, while overapplication may have an unwanted impact on the natural environment and farm finances. Frequent field N monitoring is impractical due to the time and cost required for traditional laboratory analysis. However, remotely sensed data are an alternative to evaluate and monitor crop nutrition status throughout the growing season. This study evaluates the spatial distribution of N in pasture fields cultivated under an integrated ...

Two experiments were conducted in randomized complete blocks for air-layering, using adult cambuci plants, and two completely randomized for the grafting, using seedlings. Air layering was evaluated with different rates of indolebutyric acid; the splice, side-veneer, and chip-budding techniques were used for grafting. Air-layering rooting was not ...

Despite an existing safe and effective vaccine for hepatitis B virus (HBV), it is still a major public health concern. Nowadays, several drugs are used to treat chronic hepatitis B; however, full healing remains controversial.
