Risk factors for child obesity may be influenced by family environment, including maternal depression, family structure, and parenting quality. We tested a path model in which maternal depression and single parent status are associated with parenting quality, which relates to three risk factors for child obesity: diet, leisure, and sedentary behavior. Participants included 4,601 5th-grade children and their primary caregivers who participated in the Healthy Passages study. Results showed that associations ...

The tensiometer represents an excellent instrument for measuring in situ soil water status. However, measuring soil matric potential requires a tensiometer reading system sensitive enough to accurately record the matric potential. Hence, an instantaneous profile-type experiment was conducted in the field, to measure the soil matric potentials within a moisture range from saturation to field capacity. After that, matric potential, soil moisture, total potential gradient, flow density and hydraulic ...

EnglishThis article addresses the theme of social control of Black women. For this reason, a discussion arises about the way in which social control is themed by Critical Criminology and Feminist Criminology. First, the link between social control, power and racism is stressed, and later on it is argued that the hypothesis of female social control is given priority in the private sphere, which in accordance with the Feminist Criminology is insufficient, since it does not take into account the phenomenon ...

Field capacity (FC) is one of the most cited soil physical parameters and is relevant for the management of agricultural systems. In the search for alternatives to the estimation of FC, several researchers have proposed methods based on dynamic and static criteria. Evaluating these methods within a range of soil textural classes is important for prospects of their uses with higher water use efficiency. Based on the hypothesis that FC for a certain soil textural class is exclusively associated with ...
