Abstract It is unclear whether hepatitis C virus (HCV) has been eradicated or persists at a low level in HCV antibody–positive HCV RNA–negative individuals. The natural history and liver histology are not well characterized. One hundred seventy-two HCV antibody–positive, serum HCV RNA–negative patients underwent diagnostic liver biopsy between 1992 and 2000 and were followed a median 7 years (range, 5–12). Schistosomiasis affects 200 to 250 million people worldwide. Hepatic schistosomiasis is a well-recognized cause of chronic liver disease and portal hypertension. There are no previous reports of schistosomiasis post liver transplantation. We performed a retrospective cohort study of 26 pregnancies in 16 women with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF) delivering at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and compared them with 104 controls. The rate of antenatal complications was significantly higher in the rTOF group (30 cf. 13%). Use of epidural anaesthesia was higher (67 cf. 25%) in the rTOF group compared with controls, and the length of the second stage was shorter in both spontaneous and assisted deliveries. Study design A retrospective (historical) cohort study of maternal and neonatal outcomes at a tertiary referral academic obstetric unit (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London). Semiconductor heterojunctions are interesting strategies for the development of efficient photocatalysts. In this paper we report the synthesis of ZnO:g-C3N4 heterostructures with different percentages of g-C3N4 (15%, 50% and 85%) using an easy and new method: precipitation of ZnO by alkaline solution at room temperature on g-C3N4 surface. This report describes a case of severe hepatitis in an individual returning from India which was found to be the result of infection with HEV genotype 4. HEV was diagnosed using a novel RT-PCR assay (with internal control) for HEV RNA detection/quantitation, described herein. This is the first documented report of zoonotic transmission of HEV genotype 4 infection acquired in India.
