The “Roda de Conversa” is a methodological possibility for a dynamic and productive communication between teenager students and teachers in high school. This technique is presented as a rich tool to be used as a methodological practice of approximation between subjects in everyday teaching. Discussions on “Roda de Conversa” were guided by the perception of both teachers and students about adolescence and its influence on the relations between these subjects. Data analysis revealed some interactional ...

This paper analyses the impact of parametric uncertainties of a mobile robot kinematic model on velocity and pose estimation, providing models and quantifiable knowledge about them. Most works neglect how the uncertainty regarding the robot's construction aspects (such as wheels radii, the distance between them, and the robot's center of mass) affects both velocities and pose estimation. To help readers understand the influence of such parametric uncertainties, we performed experiments in a simulator ...

During machining energy is transformed into heat due to plastic deformation of the workpiece surface and friction between tool and workpiece. High temperatures are generated in the region of the cutting edge, which have a very important influence on wear rate of the cutting tool and on tool life. This work proposes the estimation of heat flux at the chip-tool interface using inverse techniques. Factors which influence the temperature distribution at the AISI M32C high speed steel tool rake face ...

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a common and often misdiagnosed entity among the general population and it may be more common among dialysis patients, with an estimated prevalence of 6.6 to 21.5%. The treatment for uremic RLS has been controversial and therefore a systematic synthesis of the evidence is needed in order to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of treatments for uremic RLS. This was a systematic review of randomized or quasi-randomized double-blind trials on treatments for uremic RLS. ...

Tungsten inert Gas (TIG) welding takes place in an atmosphere of inert gas and uses a tungsten electrode. In this process heat input identification is a complex task and represents an important role in the optimization of the welding process. The technique used to estimate the heat flux is based on solution of an inverse three-dimensional transient heat conduction model with moving heat sources.
