The linkage between land-use change and demographic transitions in advanced countries has becoming increasingly complex because of the mutual interplay of environmental and socioeconomic spheres influencing the degree of sustainability of both regional and local developmental processes. The relationship between urbanization and economic development has been relatively well investigated by clarifying the consequent impacts on population dynamics. In the early phases of urbanization and economic development, ...

Olive growing is the most important agricultural activity in Italy, representing, in 2010, 56% of Italian farms and 76% of land used for permanent crops. Producing high-quality products, such as healthy and socially responsible produces, while containing costs, is the current market challenge, and evaluation tools are of utmost importance to help farmers shaping management practices to obtain competitive prod-ucts. The approaches to the trust study are various and very different each of other. In our view, just a socio-cognitive approach to trust would be able to analyze the sub-components (the basic beliefs) on which the final decision to trust or not is taken. In this paper we show a first implementation and advance of the socio-cognitive model of trust developed in [1],[ 2] using the so-called Fuzzy Cognitive Maps. With this implementation we show how the different components may change and how their impact ...

Abstract: Recombinant erythropoietin (r‐EPO) was administered to 37 patients with advanced, transfusion‐dependent and chemo‐resistant multiple myeloma (MM), at the fixed dose of 10,000/U s.c, 3 times a week, for 2 months. Thirteen patients (35.1%) achieved a significant response in terms of complete abolition of red cell transfusions. Factors significantly predictive of response were: a) inappropriate production of endogenous EPO, as expressed by a reduced observed/predicted ratio; b) presence of a ...
