... to a selection of 38 pottery sherds from Gurga Chiya, a small site located within the Shahrizor ... pottery analysed was all locally produced, perhaps at Gurga Chiya itself. Potential reasons for the transmission of the Uruk Phenomenon and its appearance at Gurga Chiya are discussed. We suggest that frequent, low-level contacts between Gurga Chiya and communities of the Shahrizor and adjacent ...

The fundamental activity of most drug dealers is buying drugs from a supplier and selling them on, usually in smaller lot sizes to multiple customers at a lower market level. Data on such ‘cycles’ of purchase and resale are derived from interviews with 65 dealers incarcerated in UK prisons. A power function relationship between price and transaction size is confirmed. Analyses reveal great consistency in proportional price markups across drugs and time, high cycle frequencies (typically weekly or ...

Detonation synthesized nanodiamond (ND) was sintered using a Plasma Pressure Compaction (P2C) technique. Sintering was performed for 1 min at temperatures between 700 and 1200 °C, and for 1–10 min at 900 °C under 65 MPa pressure. Structure and composition of the sintered samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and Raman microspectroscopy. The selected sintering conditions prevent excessive graphitization of diamond and allow formation of porous pellets having the ...

Recent advances in superlattice-based infrared detectors have rendered this material system a solid alternative to HgCdTe for dual-band sensing applications. In particular, superlattices are attractive from a manufacturing perspective as the epitaxial wafers can be grown with a high degree of lateral uniformity, low macroscopic defect densities (< 50 cm -2 ) and achieve dark current levels comparable to HgCdTe detectors. In this paper, we will describe our recent effort on the VISTA program towards producing ...

Abstract Importance: The Participation and Environment Measure Plus (PEM+) is a new electronic health application to help caregivers contribute to client-centered and participation-focused care planning for their young child. The PEM+ is designed to help caregivers build on their participation assessment by determining priority activities, setting specific goals, and identifying strategies for goal attainment. Objective: To examine the usability of the PEM+. Design: A single-arm usability trial. ...

Objectives The primary objectives are to assess the most common type of caregiver strategy (remedial vs compensatory) reported for supporting their child’s home participation after critical illness and identify themes in compensatory strategies described, with a secondary objective to describe themes in strategy use as reported by caregivers of children who did and did not receive pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) rehabilitation services. Design Qualitative substudy of the Wee-Cover prospective ...

The mechanical properties of lithium tetraborate (LTB) were studied using micro- and nanoindentation on (100), (011) and (112) oriented plates. The lowest values of the hardness obtained for the LTB (100) face are caused by relatively easy cleavage parallel to the {100} planes. The hardness values decrease at the maximal load increasing for the LTB faces studied, however the indentation size effect is less pronounced for the LTB (011) face. The residual stresses of the indent area were detected using a ...

The obtained results give basis to assume that the glycogen reserve of the pectoral muscle can be associated with the productive type, which was the highest in quails of the meat type line WG (ΔрН=-0.573±0.053 compared to ΔрН=-0.299±0.059 in egg-laying line А, P< ...

REVIEWS 739 two essays on Vasilii Kandinskii’s Composition II (1909–10) (Marian BurleighMotley ) and the theme of silence in Werefkin’s work (Bowlt) step further afield from the scope of Valkenier’s work (and thereby this collection), but given the rarity of publications that explore the avant-garde alongside the World of Art and Peredvizhniki, they are welcome additions. Overall, the publication provides plenty of rich information and critical analysis for academics through neglected figures, topics ...
