An X-band frequency-stabilized MIC Gunn oscillator of a very simple structure using a dielectric resonator is developed. It is studied how the oscillating characteristics can be controlled by circuit parameters, with special attention to the factors affecting the frequency stability with temperature. By optimizing these factors and by selecting the proper temperature coefficient of a newly developed dielectric resonator, the high frequency stability of less than /spl plusmn/100 MHz over the temperature ...

A procedure is described for fitting multimodal lognormal size distributions to cascade impactor data. The method was applied to published cascade impactor measurements for ammonium and nitrate that were previously analyzed by procedures that do not assume a functional form for the size distribution. An evaluation of the lognormal fitting procedure by Monte Carlo simulations demonstrated that unbiased parameters and reliable estimates of their uncertainties require correct specifications of measurement ...

Abstract The oxidative addition of [Pt(η2-nb)(PPh3)2] with a sterically hindered thiol, TripSH (4, Trip = 9-triptycyl) in toluene afforded cis-hydrido(thiolato) PtII complex [PtH(STrip)(PPh3)2] (5), as thermally and moisture-stable colorless crystals in 91% yield. Complex 5 was fully characterized by 1H, 13C{1H}, and 31P{1H} NMR and IR spectroscopies, and the molecular structure of 5 was determined by X-ray crystallography.

Abstract Optical properties were studied on ternary zinc bismuth phosphate glasses, which have two distinct glass-forming regions; low-P2O5 region and high-P2O5 region. Orthophosphate and isolated phosphate structures are dominant in the former region and metaphosphate and pyrophosphate structures are dominant in the latter region. Refractive index of the low-P2O5 glass (nd > 1.82) was relatively higher than that of the high-P2O5 glass (nd O bonding state between two glasses.

The associations among poverty, measures of social support, and parents' reports of punitive and unsupportive behaviors were examined using the National Survey of Families and Households. Analyses revealed a significant interaction between perceived social support and household income: perceived social support was negatively associated with parents' reports of punitive behavior, but mainly when income was low. The amount of help received from others was negatively associated with parents' reports ...

Polyclonal subtype-specific antibodies were developed against three subtypes of GABA transporters (GAT1, GAT2 and GAT3). By immunoblot analysis, each antibody detected a single band that could be blocked by absorption of the antibody with the respective antigen. GAT2 was found in various tissues, while GAT1 and GAT3 were detected only in the brain. GAT1 was distributed throughout the brain with the highest amount in the olfactory bulb, CA3 region of the hippocampus, layer I of the cerebral cortex, ...
