Propulsion integration for low-boom supersonic aircraft requires careful inlet selection, placement, and tailoring to achieve acceptable propulsive and aerodynamic performance, without compromising vehicle sonic boom loudness levels. In this investigation, an inward-turning streamline-traced inlet and an axisymmetric spike inlet are designed and independently installed on a conceptual low-boom supersonic demonstrator aircraft. The airframe is preshaped to achieve a target ground undertrack perceived ...

Nesting habitat degradation and its negative effect on nesting success might contribute to the recent population and distributional declines of greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) throughout North America. We used radiotelemetry to locate greater sage-grouse nests in 7 different areas of central and southwestern Wyoming between 1994 and 2002; we studied each area for 2 to 4 years. Using binary logistic regression, we compared microsite vegetal data collected at nests (n = 457) and random ( ...

Previously, we have shown that protein kinase Cα (PKCα) forms a direct high-affinity, isozyme-specific and membrane lipid-independent interaction with Rho GTPases [Slater, S. J., Seiz, J. L., Stagliano, B. A., and Stubbs, C. D. (2001) Biochemistry 40, 4437−4445]. Since the cellular activation of PKCα involves an initial translocation from cytosolic to membrane compartments, the present study investigates the interdependence between the direct protein−protein interaction of PKCα with the Rho GTPase, ...
