We developed a method to apply artificial neural networks (ANNs) for predicting time-series pharmacokinetics (PKs), and an interpretable the ANN-PK model, which can explain the evidence of prediction by applying Shapley additive explanations (SHAP). A previous population PK (PopPK) model of cyclosporin A was used as the comparison model. The patients' data were used for the ANN-PK model input, and the output by ANN was the clearance (CL). The estimated CL value from the ANN were substituted into the ...

Abstract Background A comprehensive understanding of DNA adducts, one of the most plausible origins of cancer mutations, is still elusive, especially in human tissues in clinical settings. Recent technological developments have facilitated the identification of multiple DNA adducts in a single experiment. Only a few attempts toward this “DNA adductome approach” in human tissues have been reported. Geospatial information on DNA adducts in human organs has been scarce. Aim Mass spectrometry of human ...

Newly synthesized glycoproteins destined for secretion are transported from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), through the Golgi and toward the cell surface. In this secretion pathway, several intracellular ER- or Golgi-resident transmembrane proteins serve as cargo receptors. ER–Golgi intermediate compartment (ERGIC)-53, VIP36 and VIPL, which have an L-type lectin domain within the luminal portion, participate in the vectorial transport of glycoproteins via sugar–protein interactions. To understand ...

The dynamical oxidation processes of Pt-skin layers on Pt(3)Co were investigated in situ and in real-time by time-resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy combined with electrochemical measurements. Growth limit behaviors and the suppression of higher-order formation of surface oxides were observed, and these might explain the highly durable nature of Pt-skin layers.

We analyzed the local structure of the surface Ta-oxide phase of TaCN/Ta2O5 core-shell particles that have a high oxygen reduction activity by using surface-sensitive conversion-electron-yield x-ray absorption spectroscopy, suppressing the contribution from the TaCN cores. The radial structure analysis revealed that the catalytically-active Ta2O5 phase in the TaCN/Ta2O5 particle surface contains oxygen-vacancy defects with shorter Ta–O bonds leading to the slight expansion of the first Ta–O shell. ...

Transcriptional activation of gene expression directed by the long terminal repeat (LTR) of HIV-1 requires both the transactivation response element (TAR) and Tat protein. HIV-1 mutants lacking a functional tat gene are not able to proliferate. Here we take a genetic approach to suppress HIV-1 replication based on Tat-dependent production of MazF, an ACA-specific endoribonuclease (mRNA interferase) from Escherichia coli. When induced, MazF is known to cause Bak- and NBK-dependent apoptotic cell death ...

VIP36-like protein (VIPL) was identified as an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) resident protein with homology to VIP36, a cargo receptor involved in the transport of glycoproteins within cells. Although VIPL is structurally similar to VIP36, VIPL is thought not to be a lectin, because its sugar-binding activity has not been detected in several experiments. Here, recombinant soluble VIPL proteins (sVIPL) were expressed in Escherichia coli, biotinylated with biotin ligase and oligomerized with R-phycoerythrin ( ...

Abstract We studied whether applying nucleus pulposus tissue, obtained from tail intervertebral discs that had been subjected to chronic mechanical compression, to the lumbar nerve roots produces hyperalgesia, which is thought to be a pain‐related behavior in the rat. An Ilizarov‐type apparatus was used for immobilization and chronically applied compression of the rat tail for eight weeks. Three weeks after application of extracted nucleus pulposus tissue on the lumbar nerve roots, motor function, ...

lnternal stress, as a result of temperature cycle testing (TCT), causes package cracking, passivation film cracking, aluminum pattern deformation, etc. This is particularly evident in IC's and LSI devices with large-size chips and larger memory capacity. To reduce the internal stress, it was previously determined that it is effective to introduce very small sized silicone domains into the epoxy ...

To clarify the reasons, we investigated the structural difference between a-Ta2O5 and a-SiO2–Ta2O5.
