Using focused high-energy microbeams of carbon- and oxygen-ions and a high speed, wide bandwidth measurement system, we found a strong dependence of the collected charge and the transient current waveform on the position of ion incidences. Single-event charge is collected by a diffusion mechanism even when the ion strikes a position about 3 ∼ 4 μm away from the lateral boundary of the p+n-junction area.

Radiation damage introduced by the impact of heavy-ion micro-beams has been studied in connection with its effects on single-event transient currents, which are measured by the digitizing sampling method combined with focused ion micro-beams. Superconductivity exceeding 200 K was reported in the highly compressed hydrogen sulfide. The superconducting "material" was found to be synthesized by pressure above 90 GPa by the dissociation of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). We have investigated the superconducting properties after the discovery. Here, we report our recent investigations including confirmation the superconductivity and the crystal structure analysis using the synchrotron x-ray at room temperature and low temperature.

Abstract Phase relations in silicon and germanium nitrides (Si 3 N 4 and Ge 3 N 4 ) were investigated using a Kawai‐type multianvil apparatus and a laser‐heated diamond anvil cell combined with a synchrotron radiation. We performed variable-temperature synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction measurements and impedance spectroscopy under pressure for silver iodide (AgI) nanoparticles with a diameter of 11 nm. The superionic conducting α-phase of AgI nanoparticles was successfully stabilized down to at least 20 °C by applying a pressure of 0.18 GPa, whereas the transition temperature was 147 °C in bulk AgI at ambient pressure. To our knowledge, this is the first example of the α-phase of AgI existing stably at room temperature.
