1965年にスタートした河川敷の公園空間としての活用、1970年にスタートした親水をキーとした河川整備、いずれも「単一目的」の設計思想に支えられている整備である。故に元々川の持つ、行動の多様性・多義性が失われている。この多様性・多義性に着目した既存研究は存在する。しかし、人が河川空間をいかに認識しているのかについては考慮されていない。本研究は行動の要因として、生態学的視覚論を基に、動的視覚に着目した。その結果、縁とテクスチャと人間行動との対応モデルを5カテゴリー21種提示している。
